Mr. Jeff Guaracino Jeff Guaracino heads the regional communications and is an expert in gay tourism marketing programs for the Greater Philadelphia Tourism Marketing Corporation (GPTMC). The Philadelphia Get Your History Straight and Your Nightlife Gay™ campaign has been recognized by two industries (travel and public relations) with "best of the year awards" for consumer marketing and public relations. GPTMC’s gay tourism marketing campaign features a ground-breaking television commercial and has earned Philadelphia $10 million in publicity. Guaracino also oversees the Hispanic and Canadian public relations efforts for GPTMC. Previously, Guaracino served as director of communications and public relations for The Franklin Institute, Philadelphia's premier science museum. He had responsibility for all internal and external communications for the museum, an international science awards program and the Institute's technology center. Guaracino served as spokesperson and managed a variety of other communications including press release writing, collateral materials and the annual report.
Under his leadership, The Franklin Institute launched several highly targeted media campaigns, simultaneously. He was successful with creating a public profile for the Institute's president and CEO and staff experts; promoting museum attractions to increase revenue; and developing special events to highlight corporate contributors. He has also secured strategic alliances with local organizations and garnered national, regional, trade and local media attention for the Institute.
His last marketing event for the Institute was certified by the Guinness World Record organization for creating the world’s largest flag (logo) out of 280,000 Lego bricks. This event was created in partnership with the Philadelphia Convention & Visitors Bureau and the Lego Company and resulted in a 15 percent spike in museum attendance.
Previously, Guaracino served as the communications associate CBS, Inc. for three years with responsibilities ranging from corporate communications to celebrity press tours. He joined the network as a communications assistant in March 1995. His special endeavors have included: a comprehensive Cosby Kid Search; publicity tours for numerous network stars including the 60 Minutes team; and the launch of Philadelphia's newest talk radio station, WPHT-AM.
Guaracino began his career in 1993 at the AIDS Coalition of Southern New Jersey. He served as the non-profit's public relations manager, his work is credited with increasing the agency's annual United Way contributions by 30 percent in one year; a 650 percent increase in volunteer inquires, and accounting for 6.25 percent of the agency's overall public awareness..
Active in the community, he serves as a marketing and public relations consultant to a number of regional organizations where he specializes in crisis communications and marketing. He serves on the board of the William Way GLBT Community Center. He is also a member of the National Lesbian and Gay Journalists Association and served on the host committee for the national convention in September 2002.
Guaracino is a graduate of Rowan University and has studied at Temple University. He resides in Philadelphia, PA.
