Creating a spa is one thing, but creating a smart spa takes discipline and forethought. In my article, “Understanding the Benefits of Combining Creative Spa Design with Efficient Programming” in the Hotel Business Review, we evaluate the importance of the design and programming process and its impact on revenue potential, efficiency and the customer experience.

Our firm, Spa Strategy Inc., is a global spa consultancy specializing in development and redevelopment of hotel spas, drawing on the creative resources of a highly experienced team.  We provide market research, concept and menu development, interior design, and marketing with the goal of providing hotel management and owners a spa that fits seamlessly into an existing property or hotel brand.  In addition, our sister company, Spatality, Inc., provides full service spa management and brand development, as well as an off-the-shelf spa brand called Nectar.

While Director of Spa Development and Operations at Starwood Hotels & Resorts, I dealt with developing new spas and redeveloping existing hotel spas in order to maximize the customer experience and the financial return.

The War Generation, raised on Depression and World War, may have accepted somewhat stoically the difficulties of navigating through an America accustomed to focusing on youth culture, but Baby Boomers have never yet accepted anything anyone has tried to impose upon them and have had the economic might to get their way.
