Eric Fettke Named Executive Chef

HANOI, Vietnam, 3 December 2008. After winning TTG's Best City Hotel Award for Vietnam last month, Intercontinental Hanoi Westlake is rounding out its first full year of operation with a slate of critical, new personnel appointments: Eric Fettke takes charge in the kitchen as executive chef; Bennett Peter comes on as director of sales and marketing; Tan Hun Seng assumes responsibility of the books as director of finance & business support; and Ferdinand Alacar steps up as the new director of engineering.

Eric Fettke

South African Eric Fettke is a seasoned InterContinental hand, with stints at Sandton Sun & Towers InterContinental Johannesburg and InterContinental Warszawa in Poland. As the Warszawa's property's executive chef, Fettke won renown for his creative flair in nuevo Latino, contemporary dining and banqueting fare. Fettke has a taste for trendy and modern cuisine with an emphasis on artistic presentation. Having cooked for the likes of Nelson Mandela, Oprah Winfrey and Mick Jagger, Fettke is no stranger to the high demands of his work. Although modern in his outlook, he was inducted into the Elite society, the "Disciples of Escoffier", in which he's promised to uphold the traditions of the kitchen, the transmission of knowledge, respect for culture and the research and implementation of actions for preserving the culinary foundations.

Bennett Peter

Up from the beaches of Bali, Peter joins the West Lake property with 13 years of experience in media sales and marketing. Over the past eight years, he has focused his efforts in the hospitality industry His most recent post was at the Sanur Paradise Plaza Hotel in Bali.

Tan Hun Seng

The new director of finance and business support, Tan Hun Seng previously worked on the opening of the Crowne Plaza International Airport Beijing. With 20 years experience in Asia, his postings include stints at InterContinental Holiday Inn Tian An Wuhan City Centre and Raffles Hotel Le Royal in Phnom Penh.

Ferdinand Alacar

Director of Engineering Ferdinand Alacar joins the Hanoi team from Enjay Hotels and InterContinental Manila, where he was promoted from chief engineer to area engineer for Malaysia and the Philippines. His participation in the hotel's refurbishment, guest room maintenance and training of new staff won him manager of the year in the Employee Recognition Program 2007.
