Naples Beach Captures "Greens of Distinction" Award

. October 14, 2008

NAPLES, FL, July 21, 2006. The Naples Beach Hotel & Golf Club has captured another award from the meetings industry, Corporate & Incentive Travel magazine's 2006 "Greens of Distinction" Award. This marks the first year the resort has received the prestigious award, according to Jim Gunderson, general manager of the 318-room resort, which is Naples' only beachfront resort offering on-site championship golf, a world-class spa, and an award-winning tennis center.

The "Greens of Distinction" Award is given annually to resorts and hotels that best served the needs of incentive golf programs during the past year, as chosen by the magazine's readers. Selections were based on meeting facilities, overall hospitality, golf staff assistance, course condition and design, and tournament arrangements that effectively hosted the planner's meetings and incentive travel programs. The winners will be featured in a special section in the magazine's August 2006 issue.

Featuring 34,000 square feet of meeting and event space, The Naples Beach Hotel & Golf Club is a consistent recipient of the meetings industry's top awards. The resort is the recipient of Successful Meetings magazine's "Pinnacle Award," Meeting News' "Planner's Choice Award," Medical Meetings magazine's "Merit & Distinction Award," and ConventionSouth magazine's "Readers' Choice Award."

"We're honored to receive this award, as it recognizes our resort for being a great choice for groups that wish to golf," said Gunderson. "Not only do we have a wonderful golf course and first-class meeting facilities, but this recognizes that we provide exceptional service too."

The Naples Beach Hotel & Golf Club, owned and operated by the Watkins family for 60 years, combines impressive meeting capabilities with exceptional recreational offerings in a world-class destination. Occupying 125 acres with 1,000 feet of white sand beach on the Gulf of Mexico, the resort features: a challenging on-site 18-hole, par 72 PGA championship golf course; a world-class Spa and complete Fitness Center; a large beachfront swimming pool; an award-winning Tennis Center with six Har-Tru courts; Beach Klub 4 Kids, a complimentary recreational program for children ages five to 12; an Orchid House, which is home to over 5,000 tropical plants; four restaurants; and three bars.

The resort completed a five-year, $40 million enhancement and expansion in Fall 2005, which included a $6 million enhancement of its lobby, which now provides a stunning view of the Gulf of Mexico thanks to the addition of large windows across the west wall. Other recent improvements included the redecorating of the hotel's 318 guest rooms, remodeling guest room corridors, pool enhancements, and the opening in 2000 of the resort's Clubhouse and Spa.
