Party in Style at Porto Vista Hotel's Swingin' New Year's Bash

Hotel to Ring in the New Year with 70s Themed Party and Rooftop Firework Views

SAN DIEGO, CA, December 3, 2009 - Ring in the New Year in style at Porto Vista Hotel’s (Porto Vista) 70s-themed bash featuring drinks and dining, amazing firework views, costume contest and prizes, numerous party packages and special hotel rates.

“Porto Vista will provide our guests a night to remember with options for everyone, whether they come to dine, drink, or get in the groove of our 70s party,” said Greg Keebler, general manager of Porto Vista. “The hotel’s unique location and rooftop deck also allow our guests to view fireworks from front row seats that are hard to find anywhere else in San Diego.”

Begin the night at Porto Vista’s Glass Door Restaurant and toast to 2010 with a special five-course menu prepared by Chef Rob Conaway. The menu is $79 per person for the first seating at 6:30 p.m., and $99 per person for the second seating at 9 p.m.

Guests can head up to the Ripassi Terazzo rooftop deck for perfect views of the San Diego Bay fireworks, drinks, and to mix and mingle with other cool cats and foxy chicks. Admission is free for those arriving before 9 p.m., and $30 thereafter. The rooftop will also hold a ‘Groovy Threads’ costume contest for guests that dress the part, for a chance to win a number of prizes including gift certificates to the Glass Door, Evolve Salon and Vespa apparel from Porto Vista’s new boutique, Porto Vespa.

To partake in all the evening affairs, Porto Vista is also offering six swingin’ New Year’s Eve party packages starting at $269. Each package includes dinner for two, admission to the Ripassi rooftop party, valet parking and a room for one night. Guests can also rent a private cabana for $600, which includes six admission tickets, two bottles of select liquor and mixers and a bottle of champagne to toast the evening. Or, special room-only rates are available starting at $109 in the newly reimaged hotel.

Hotel Human Resources: The Biggest Challenges
The economic challenges of the past four years have led many hotel companies to re-examine the ways in which they do business and how they deploy talent. In many cases, the work did not go away and fewer people were left to carry on the tasks that had previously been shared among many. As we work our way out of the recession and look forward to a healthier economic environment, there is an understanding that despite recovering business levels, we may never see the return of former staffing levels. This "new norm" of operating with leaner teams has led Human Resources professionals and people managers to look at career development and growth opportunities in a new light. The March Hotel Business Review will take a look at some of the strategies being used by successful hotel brands, and techniques human resource directors are currently exploring.
