The Ranch at Rock Creek Appoints Bill Griffon GM

February 18, 2010 - The Ranch at Rock Creek, Montana’s premier new luxury guest ranch, is pleased to announce the appointment of Bill Griffon as general manager. Griffon’s impressive experience in the hospitality industry and unabashed passion for Western living will ensure a successful grand opening for the Ranch in May.

Griffon arrives at The Ranch at Rock Creek from his previous tenure as general manager and chief operational officer of the Seven Falls Golf and River Club in Hendersonville, NC. Known as the only private golf and river club in the state, Griffon was responsible for maintaining the five-star service at the world’s first Arnold Palmer Premier Club and Course, as well as managing the staff, budgets and construction plans. Prior to his work at Seven Falls, Griffon served four years as the vice president of operations at the prestigious Yellowstone Club in Big Sky, Montana, where he continued to hone his skills for successfully managing upscale properties with high-end clientele. Despite holding various leadership positions throughout the Hyatt Corporation and The Lodge at Sea Island in Georgia and living in some of the prettiest parts of the country, the West continued to resonate for Griffon and he knew Montana was his home.

As general manager, Griffon will be responsible for shaping every operational aspect of the Ranch, including spearheading the additional hiring efforts, streamlining the activities programs, developing relationships with guests and managing the staff.

“I’m very much looking forward to sharing our scenery, staff, activities and amenities with guests,” said Griffon, “because I think they’re really going to be amazed at what we have going on way out here in the mountains of Montana. The chance to offer remarkably upscale amenities in a smaller-scale setting was impossible to resist. It’s a place built on passion, not numbers.”

With a knack for outdoor activities and an unwavering sense of leadership, Griffon will play an instrumental role in providing the ultimate luxury ranch experience for each guest.

Hotel Human Resources: The Biggest Challenges
The economic challenges of the past four years have led many hotel companies to re-examine the ways in which they do business and how they deploy talent. In many cases, the work did not go away and fewer people were left to carry on the tasks that had previously been shared among many. As we work our way out of the recession and look forward to a healthier economic environment, there is an understanding that despite recovering business levels, we may never see the return of former staffing levels. This "new norm" of operating with leaner teams has led Human Resources professionals and people managers to look at career development and growth opportunities in a new light. The March Hotel Business Review will take a look at some of the strategies being used by successful hotel brands, and techniques human resource directors are currently exploring.
