Scott Blalock Named GM of the Year for 2009 by Indiana H&LA

INDIANAPOLIS, February 26, 2010 - White Lodging of Merrillville, IN is pleased to announce that Scott Blalock, General Manager of the Marriott Convention Hotel in Indianapolis, Indiana was recently awarded the Indiana Hotel and Lodging Association's Award for Top General Manager of 2009.

The "Star of the Industry" Awards which are given by the Indiana Hotel and Lodging Association allow hoteliers the opportunity to recognize employees, managers, allied members, and legislators who best represent the spirit of the lodging industry. A 22 year industry veteran, Blalock was honored for his leadership and passion for both his guests and his associates while achieving balanced results during a difficult economic year.

Scott began his hospitality career as an entry level manager and went on to hold various positions across multiple brands within Marriott International in a span of 18 years. Group Sales Manager, General Manager of the Houston Marriott Greenspoint, General Manager Marriott Rancho Las Palmas Resort, and Regional Vice President of Lodging Management were just some of the positions held during his tenure.

He came to White Lodging in 2006 as Regional Vice President of Operations for the Chicagoland area. In 2008 Scott took over the 622 room Marriott Convention Hotel in Indianapolis. Scott has already accepted his next challenge with White Lodging. He will assume leadership of the new 1,006 room JW Marriott hotel in Indianapolis slated to open in February 2011.

In addition to his position with White Lodging, Blalock serves as the Secretary of Indianapolis Downtown, Inc. and is on the board of the Greater Indianapolis Lodging Association.
