New GM at The Royal Livingstone and Zambezi Sun

Sun International is delighted to an?nounce the appointment of Joanne Selby as the new General Man?ager of The Falls Resort in Zambia. Sun International’s The Falls Resort includes two hotels, the famous Royal Livingstone hotel and the popular Zambezi Sun.

Prior to joining Sun International 10 years ago, Selby spent five years at Fancourt Hotel and Country Club Estate and one year at the H?tel Le Vend?me in Sea Point, Cape Town. In April 2000 she continued her career as a Front Office Manager at Sun City and thereafter held the positions of Rooms Division Manager and Hotel Manager for both the Sun City Hotel and The Cascades Hotel where she oversaw the refurbishment of the Cascades hotel. In October 2003 she became the Hotel Manager for The Royal Livingstone in Zambia and was later appointed to the position of General Man?ager: Operations in January 2008.

The Royal Livingstone is a stone’s throw from the mighty Victoria Falls, with 173 spacious and luxurious en-suite guestrooms, each with its own private, secluded veranda stretching along the river bank. The Zambezi Sun is located adjacent to the Eastern Cataract of renowned Victoria Falls and has 212 rooms. Its atmosphere re?flects the richness and diversity of the country’s heritage, capturing the unpretentious, fun and welcoming spirit of Africa.

The Falls Resort has received many accolades and awards since its inception, particularly for its achievements in responsible tourism and environmental awareness. “As a sustainable tourism destina?tion located in a World Heritage Site, daily operations at the Royal Livingstone Hotel and Zambezi Sun are motivated by our concern for the environment,” says Selby. “Our overall strategy is to con?serve energy and natural resources without affecting guest satisfac?tion and to minimize waste and its impact on the environment. We have also embarked on a number of developmental projects and partnerships with local communities to create and enhance sustain?able sources of revenue in the region and under my leadership we will continue to play a major role in these and new endeavors.”
