U.S.-Cuba Travel Summit Features Senator Dorgan, Cuban Ministry Officials, Travel and Investment Specialists

LEXINGTON, KY - March 12, 2010 – The U.S.-Cuba Travel Summit, March 24-26 in Cancun, features a unique opportunity for travel professionals to connect with Cuban officials and travel specialists. U.S. travel professionals and others interested in being at the front of the opportunity when travel opens to Cuba will want to attend this one-of-a-kind conference. Presented by Alamar Associates in association with NTA and sponsored by USTOA, the U.S.-Cuba Travel Summit offers presentations from top Cuban officials and local travel specialists on the state of tourism and opportunity for investment in Cuba.

Senator Byron Dorgan (D- North Dakota), sponsor of S428 (the Freedom to Travel to Cuba Act), is scheduled to host a Q&A via teleconference on the status of the U.S. legislation. The current schedule of events also includes an overview of the state of Cuban tourism by Miguel Figueras, senior advisor to the Cuban Minister of Tourism and a panel of Cuban hoteliers speaking on the experiences of international companies in the Cuban travel sector. Also, Cuban travel representatives from Gaviota, Havanatur, Habaguanex/San Cristobal, Palmares, Gran Caribe, Cubanacan, Marlin Nautica and Marinas will present information on the opportunities for travelers in Cuba.

In addition, the U.S-Cuba Travel Summit offers breakout sessions on all aspects of travel in Cuba and more than two days for U.S. participants to talk informally and personally with all officials from Cuba.

Currently, registrants of the U.S.-Cuba Travel Summit include representatives from the Cuban government, the Cuban Ministry of Tourism, the Cuban Ministry of Trade and Foreign Investment and the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Relations.

This is the 10th such U.S.-Cuba business gathering that has been organized in Cancun by Alamar Associates. Overall more than 400 U.S. executives have been able to meet their Cuban counterparts in such sectors as food and agriculture, energy, general business, and travel.
