Hannah Kramer Joins La Colombe d'Or Hotel in Houston

Also the Grand Salon Event Pavilion as Sales & Catering Manager

HOUSTON, TX – August 10, 2010 – Hannah Kramer has been appointed sales and catering manager of La Colombe d’Or, one of the world’s smallest luxury hotels and a landmark in Houston’s Montrose neighborhood. Located on the edge of the Museum District and just minutes from downtown and the Texas Medical Center, the five-suite property housed in a 1923 mansion is a sought after location for upscale meetings and events. In addition to a variety of distinctive and intimate venues in the mansion, the attached 8,000-square-foot Grand Salon is one of city’s most unexpected gems, featuring an exquisite ballroom that showcases 300-year-old wood panels from the French country chateau of Count and Countess Greffulhe.

Unfulfilled in the legal field, Kramer found her calling in the meetings and events industry after serving as the event coordinator at the Czech Center Museum in Houston. Most recently, she was a human resources associate at Jackson and Company, an internationally recognized, Houston-based catering and events firm known for their premium service, cuisine and production values. In that capacity, Kramer managed small- and medium-sized events, including staffing.

In the fall, Kramer will begin her Masters of Hospitality Management coursework at the University of Houston’s Hilton College, while continuing to work full time at La Colombe d’Or. She is a graduate of the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg with a B.S. in Criminal Justice.

La Colombe d‘Or is located at 3410 Montrose Blvd. between Westheimer and Alabama. For information, please call 713-524-7999 or log onto www.lacolombedor.com.

Hotel Human Resources: The Biggest Challenges
The economic challenges of the past four years have led many hotel companies to re-examine the ways in which they do business and how they deploy talent. In many cases, the work did not go away and fewer people were left to carry on the tasks that had previously been shared among many. As we work our way out of the recession and look forward to a healthier economic environment, there is an understanding that despite recovering business levels, we may never see the return of former staffing levels. This "new norm" of operating with leaner teams has led Human Resources professionals and people managers to look at career development and growth opportunities in a new light. The March Hotel Business Review will take a look at some of the strategies being used by successful hotel brands, and techniques human resource directors are currently exploring.
