New Orleans CVB Launches National Photo Contest

"Let's Do Shots! New Orleans Photo Contest" Kicks Off August 16

NEW ORLEANS - August 18, 2010 - Today, the New Orleans CVB is excited to launch the Let's Do Shots! New Orleans Photo Contest. Amidst the continued impact of the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill, New Orleans remains a world-class travel destination and a city that lives within the hearts of people around the globe. The photo contest seeks to visually represent this by showing locals and visitors enjoying what makes New Orleans special - the cuisine, culture and quality of life.

Beginning August 16, via Facebook, users can upload photos of themselves and their families enjoying their favorite parts of New Orleans. Those who have never been to New Orleans are not left out, as users can also upload pictures of "what New Orleans means to them." This includes photos of: cooking a New Orleans meal, wearing New Orleans Saints gear, or imitating an ideal trip to New Orleans.

Entries will be taken until September 3, when 10 finalists will be chosen internally and voted on by the public. On September 17, the New Orleans CVB will announce two Grand Prize winners - one local and one visitor. The winners will each receive a three-day/three-night New Orleans experience for two, packaged by Kuoni Destination Management.

How To Enter:

Hotel Human Resources: The Biggest Challenges
The economic challenges of the past four years have led many hotel companies to re-examine the ways in which they do business and how they deploy talent. In many cases, the work did not go away and fewer people were left to carry on the tasks that had previously been shared among many. As we work our way out of the recession and look forward to a healthier economic environment, there is an understanding that despite recovering business levels, we may never see the return of former staffing levels. This "new norm" of operating with leaner teams has led Human Resources professionals and people managers to look at career development and growth opportunities in a new light. The March Hotel Business Review will take a look at some of the strategies being used by successful hotel brands, and techniques human resource directors are currently exploring.
