Norval Nelson Named GM for Walnut Creek Marriott

Walnut Creek, CA

SANTA MONICA, CA – August 19, 2010 - Norval Nelson has been named the General Manager for the Walnut Creek Marriott, a dynamic property in the heart of the East Bay that offers convenient access to the San Francisco and Oakland airports.

Windsor Management Services is the hotel management arm of Santa Monica-based Windsor Capital Group, Inc. The firm manages nearly 30 upscale hotels throughout the U.S.
“Norval has exceptional management experience in a distinguished career spanning 24 years” said Bill Upshaw, President & Chief Operating Officer for Windsor Management Services. “He knows the Northern California market intimately, having led several properties and served in leadership positions at area visitor and convention bureaus, lodging associations and Rotary Clubs.”

Previous to this position, Nelson was the General Manager at the Pleasanton Marriott. He has also led the historic Sir Francis Drake Hotel, the San Jose Hilton & Towers and the San Jose Red Lion Hotel. For six years he served as Chief Executive Officer for a lodging, gaming and transportation company and has residential, commercial real estate and property management experience. He has earned Red Lion’s Best Salesman Award and been honored multiple times for his civic and community involvement.

The Walnut Creek Marriott, which is conveniently located near the BART Station, Mount Diablo State Park, Lindsay Wildlife Museum, Lesher Center for the Arts and the Sleep Train Pavilion, offers 20 meeting rooms and more than 17,300 square feet of meeting and banquet space. Guests can utilize Executive Boardrooms, the Business Center and on-site catering. Kids can enjoy the Marriott Nickelodeon Your Stay Program, which offers young travelers a complimentary, themed goodie bag and special Nickelodeon turndown service.
