DELAFIELD, WI - February 15, 2011 - The Delafield Hotel in the town of Delafield, Wis. has just announced that Philip Lane has been brought on as the new general manager. Lane hails from Florida originally, and has had a storied career serving in management positions at AAA 5-Diamond resorts in warm weather climates, yet this is a return home for him to the state where he raised his family. Lane will oversee the guest experience for this 38-room boutique hotel that also offers gracious meeting rooms, a ballroom for special events and weddings, and a fine-dining restaurant. The Delafield Hotel is the only Preferred Boutique™ hotel in the Midwest and may be found online at www.thedelafieldhotel.com.

Lane began his career in Florida working for the Sawgrass Resort in Ponte Vedra Beach, home of the PGA headquarters and, later, the Ponte Vedra Inn & Club, a AAA 5-Diamond property. He served as convention services manager at the Opryland Hotel in Nashville, the largest convention center in North America. Lane was a member of the senior management team at The Cloister at Sea island in Sea Island, Ga. during the property's $350 million upgrade, and the executive committee at the Ross Bridge Renaissance, a AAA 4-Diamond golf resort in Birmingham, Ala.

His time in Wisconsin included tenures with the Grand Geneva Resort & Spa in Lake Geneva, the Abbey Resort & Spa in Fontana and the Big Foot Country Club in Fontana.

Delafield Hotel owner Scott Rookus said it was Lane's experience with high-end resorts that made the difference in selecting him for the position. “The Delafield Hotel holds a special place among boutique hotels and our new general manager has a shared vision of what it takes to deliver an exceptionally high level of customer service that is matched by memorable accommodations,” said Rookus.

Lane was impressed with the property from the first visit. “This is a breathtaking hotel with an enthusiastic staff, and I'm looking forward to getting settled in here and creating new connections in the community.”

Lane went on to say he enjoys golf, an easy fit with the Erin Hills Golf Course, home of the 2017 U.S. Open, close by.

He's held memberships in the American Hotel & Motel Association, Professional Convention Managers Association, Meeting Planners International and National Association of Catering Executives.
