Dusit International Names New Corporate DoR

January 3, 2012 - Dusit International announced the appointment of Aloysius Michael to the newly created position of Dusit International’s corporate director of rooms. Michael will be responsible for all Dusit properties' room operations and standards as well as security matters. Michael was previously the Resident Manager of Dusit Thani Pattaya.

Michael, a Singaporean national, has an extensive background in the hotel industry, having held both operational and management roles at the Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore where he began his career in hospitality more than eight years ago. Prior to joining Dusit International, he had expanded his wealth of experience in Rooms, Sales and Marketing as well as Human Resources. This earned him the position of human resource manager for the 2008 pre-opening of the Dusit Residence Dubai Marina, the company's first branded residence outside of Thailand. Not long after, he was promoted as the resident manager of the property and his main responsibility focused on overseeing its entire operations. Three years later, he was moved to Thailand for his posting in Pattaya.

Hotel Sustainable Development: Principles and Best Practices
Sustainability is now a daily topic that affects every facet of hotel development and operations. As hotelier Hervé Houdré recently noted "The goal of Sustainable Development is clearly to secure economic development, social equity, and environmental protection. As much as they could work in harmony, these goals sometimes work against each other". In the June Hotel Business Review, some of the industry's most recognized sustainable development experts come together to identify emerging trends and discuss how sustainability is currently affecting the hotel industry. Each author presents the most important aspects of sustainable development of much interest to hotel owners, operators, investors and developers. We include perspectives and case studies on best practices from leading hotel groups and other industry players.
