Hilton Worldwide Appoints Jean-Claude Mathot as Managing Director for Two Florida Hotels

Responsible for the 589-room Hilton Fort Lauderdale Marina Hotel and the Bahia Mar Fort Lauderdale Beach

Fort Lauderdale, FL – January 4, 2012 – Hilton Worldwide announced today the appointment of 40-year lodging veteran Jean-Claude Mathot as managing director of Hilton Fort Lauderdale Marina hotel and Bahia Mar Fort Lauderdale Beach, a Doubletree by Hilton hotel.

The waterfront Hilton Lauderdale Marina hotel, with 589 guest rooms and suites, is directly across from across the street from the Greater Fort Lauderdale-Broward Convention Center. The newly branded Bahia Mar Fort Lauderdale Beach, a DoubleTree by Hilton hotel, features 296 guest rooms and suites.

“Jean-Claude Mathot is an outstanding hotelier with extensive experience,” said Keith Clampet, Hilton Worldwide senior vice president, operations. “His leadership and expertise in all facets of property operations will greatly benefit these two leading regional properties.”

Mathot previously served in executive management capacities with Hotels of Distinction, Alliance Hospitality (Paris), Prime Hospitality, ABC Hotels, BFX Hospitality Group and Hotels of Distinction Ventures, a company he cofounded to acquire, reposition and resell distressed hotels.

After studying at the Culinary Institute of America at New Haven, Conn., he began his hospitality career with Sheraton Corporation in 1971, serving in roles of increasing responsibility at the 1,050-room Sheraton Boston Hotel and 450-room Sheraton Plaza Hotel in Boston.
