Waterford Opens The Lord Jeffery Inn in Amherst, MA After Multi-million Dollar Renovation

The Historic 49-room Inn is Owned by the Amherst Inn Company

WATERFORD, CT - January 13, 2012 - On January 5, 2012, Waterford Hotel Group joined the Amherst College in opening The Lord Jeffery Inn in Amherst, MA after an extensive renovation. A ribbon cutting ceremony was held to mark the grand reopening of the 49-room historic Inn, which first opened in 1926. The Inn, which is owned by the Amherst Inn Company, an affiliate of Amherst College, will employ approximately 60 associates. Waterford Hotel Group was selected as operator of The Lord Jeffery Inn in 2010, provided pre-opening services while the property underwent a multi-million dollar restoration and transformation, and will now manage and operate the Inn.

“We are thrilled to join the Amherst College in reintroducing the highly anticipated Lord Jeffery Inn,” said Rob Winchester, president and COO of Waterford Hotel Group, Inc. “This unique project maintains the historic New England charm and design of the Inn, while at the same time adding in modern touches that address the evolving needs of today’s traveler. The Lord Jeffery Inn is once again the premier destination for lodging, dining, corporate meetings, and social events,” he added.

The Lord Jeffery Inn, located at 30 Boltwood Avenue, features 49 renovated guest rooms and suites, a new ballroom, updated and expanded conference facilities, and a new farm-to-fork inspired full service restaurant, 30Boltwood. For more than 80 years, The Lord Jeffery Inn has been an integral part of Amherst and the surrounding community, as well as an important fixture of Amherst College. The project includes upgrading the 46,000 sq. ft. building's internal systems, as well as significant energy-efficiency improvements that make it one of the greenest inns in the Pioneer Valley. The project is expected to achieve LEED certification and will be using sustainable building techniques, including heating and cooling using geothermal technology.

30Boltwood, designed to reflect contemporary wine country living, offers an extensive wine list and a menu full of natural, farm-fresh ingredients. During the warm-weather season, outdoor dining will be available at 30Boltwood within the covered walkway and in the lounge area of the patio.

Standard Builders of Newington, CT served as general contractor for the project; the architect was Northeast Collaborative Architects of Providence, RI; and interior design services were provided by Parker-Torres Design LLC, located in Sudbury, MA.
