Dallas Stoneleigh Hotel & Spa Becomes Luxe Hotels’ First Branded Property in Texas

Originally opened during the roaring 1920’s, the property recently underwent a $36 million renovation which restored its historic grandiosity and added a chic new personality and energetic vibe.

January 26, 2012 - As part of the continued brand expansion of the Luxe Hotels’ portfolio, CEO Efrem Harkham announced the addition of the historic Stoneleigh Hotel & Spa in Dallas, Texas, making it the newest Luxe branded property. The announcement was made at The Americas Lodging Investment Summit (ALIS). The stylish, uptown Dallas property is managed by CAM Hospitality Management.

“This addition underscores an incredible time in our organization’s history, as we continue our expansion of branded properties,” said Harkham, the veteran hotelier behind the Luxe brand. “The Stoneleigh’s combination of a great location, distinct style and historic charm is an exact fit with the authentic guest experiences we value at Luxe Hotels,” added Harkham. The Stoneleigh Hotel & Spa will be converted into a Luxe branded hotel and be renamed The Luxe Stoneleigh Dallas Hotel & Spa in the second quarter of 2012.

Originally opened during the roaring 1920’s, the property recently underwent a $36 million renovation which restored its historic grandiosity and added a chic new personality and energetic vibe. Redesigned by internationally recognized interior design firm Forrest Perkins, Luxe Stoneleigh Dallas Hotel & Spa is set in the dynamic and fashionable uptown district, offering expansive accommodations rich in history and teeming with modern amenities. Recently ranked among the top five Dallas and Ft. Worth hotels by U.S. News & World Report, The Luxe Stoneleigh Dallas Hotel & Spa boasts a renewed commitment to personal service and an exceptional experience.

“The Luxe Hotels brand epitomizes service, quality, and individuality, which mirrors our brand identity at The Stoneleigh,” said Chris Mannino, President of CAM Hospitality Management. “We are pleased with the new relationship and believe that Luxe Hotels is able to bring great value to this property.”

The Luxe Stoneleigh Dallas Hotel & Spa includes 170 guest rooms that feature indulgent, provocative style with large windows, luxury bed and bath linens, complimentary wireless and high-speed Internet, flat-screen TVs accompanied by bathrooms outfitted in Calcutta marble flooring and Baronessa Cali Oliva bath accessories. The lavish junior suites offer stunning views of downtown Dallas, art deco elegance, soaring ceilings and antique fireplaces. The hotel’s popular penthouse suite features a private 590 square-foot rooftop terrace, music room, dining room and library.

Luxe Hotels is comprised of 12 regional offices worldwide, which serve the entire Luxe brand portfolio, including the nearly 200 members of Luxe Worldwide Hotels. The Luxe brand has steadily increased its footprint over the past nine years nationally and internationally. According to Harkham, current expansion considerations include gateway cities in the US and Europe, such as New York, San Francisco, Miami, Chicago, London and Paris, among others.

Hotel Human Resources: The Biggest Challenges
The economic challenges of the past four years have led many hotel companies to re-examine the ways in which they do business and how they deploy talent. In many cases, the work did not go away and fewer people were left to carry on the tasks that had previously been shared among many. As we work our way out of the recession and look forward to a healthier economic environment, there is an understanding that despite recovering business levels, we may never see the return of former staffing levels. This "new norm" of operating with leaner teams has led Human Resources professionals and people managers to look at career development and growth opportunities in a new light. The March Hotel Business Review will take a look at some of the strategies being used by successful hotel brands, and techniques human resource directors are currently exploring.
