Joy Harringa Appointed Hotel Manager at Renaissance Baton Rouge Hotel

BATON ROUGE, LA. – February 1, 2012 - Peter Dunn, general manager of the Renaissance Hotel, has announced the appointment of Joy Harringa as hotel manager. In this role Harringa (pronounced: Harring-gay) will oversee the food & beverage and rooms operations of the 256-room hotel, which includes the casual upscale restaurant, Tallulah Crafted Food and Wine Bar.

Tallulah serves notable, indigenous cuisine from around Louisiana, while featuring house-crafted menu items that interpret local flavors in fresh and unique ways. Meals are paired with 32 preserved wines by the glass, fresh juice cocktails and assorted local brews. The restaurant serves during all meal periods and features private dining for intimate meetings and an outdoor terrace for entertaining.

Joy comes to the Renaissance Baton Rouge from the 234-room Sheraton Iowa City Hotel and hotel Vetro, a 56-room boutique hotel that her team also managed. There, she oversaw and operated a $2.9 million food & beverage operation, including 27,000 square feet of meeting space, restaurant, lounge and room service departments.

In 2010, under Joy’s supervision, The Sheraton Iowa City Hotel was named Davidson’s Hotel of the Year—having excelled in all key metrics, including financial results, guest satisfaction, team member satisfaction, market share and quality assurance.

Harringa is very active in numerous events and charities including Ice Cream in July, which raised over $50,000 for the Give the Kids the World charity.

Located one mile south of Interstate 10 at the Bluebonnet Blvd. exit, the 256-room Renaissance Baton Rouge Hotel offers a fully equipped fitness center, a resort-style pool and courtyard, state-of-the-art meeting space, Tallulah Crafted Food and Wine Bar—a casually upscale restaurant and bar, an outdoor terrace, and spectacular artwork by several Louisiana artists, including world-renowned CC Lockwood. Its close proximity to LSU Tiger Stadium, the State Capitol, downtown Baton Rouge and upscale shopping makes this an ideal locale for business guests and group travelers, as well as for weekend getaways and tailgating. The Renaissance may be booked toll-free at: 1-800-HOTELS-1 or online at www.renaissancehotels.btrbb.com.
