Maria Zec Re-Elected to The Greater North Michigan Avenue Association's Board of Directors
CHICAGO - February 20, 2012 - Maria Zec, general manager of The Peninsula Chicago and regional vice president – USA East Coast of The Peninsula Hotels, was recently re-elected to The Greater North Michigan Avenue Association’s (GNMAA) Board of Directors. Members of the Board were inducted during GNMAA’s hundredth Annual Meeting on February 6.
The GNMAA Board of Directors consists of 115 Chicago business leaders committed to preserving The Magnificent Mile® as a premier visitor and business destination with upscale retail stores, restaurants, hotels, office accommodations and residences. Zec has been an active member of the GNMAA Board of Directors since 2010. As a re-elected member, she will serve a two-year term, expiring in 2014.
In addition to her role as General Manager for The Peninsula Chicago, Zec serves as Regional Vice President – USA East Coast for The Peninsula Hotels – overseeing hotel operations in Chicago and New York. Under her leadership, The Peninsula Chicago achieved the Forbes Five-Star and AAA Five Diamond awards within her first year as General Manager for the property. The hotel has continued to receive these coveted awards since 2001.
Zec has been named one of the ‘Top 10 Hoteliers’ and inducted into the ‘Hotelier’s Hall of Achievement’ by Leaders magazine. She was also recognized as ‘Hotelier of the Year’ for the State of Illinois by the Illinois Hotel and Lodging Association in 2004, among other accolades.
