James Gelfand Named DoSM for 408-room Turnberry Isle Miami in Aventura, FL

Aventura, FL - February 20, 2012 - Turnberry Isle Miami has appointed James Gelfand as director of sales & marketing for the 408-room Forbes Four Star resort. Announced by managing director Douglas Hustad, the appointment is effective immediately. In this capacity, Gelfand is responsible for overseeing the strategic direction of sales and marketing for the 300-acre property, developing new business opportunities and working directly with all revenue generating departments.

“James brings over 30 years of experience in the hospitality industry. He has held leadership positions within many disciplines including food and beverage, catering and conference services, and sales and marketing,” said Hustad. James will play a crucial role in the influence, guidance and direction of property sales.”

Prior to assuming his new role with Turnberry Isle Miami, Gelfand held the director of sales & marketing position at The Westin Copley Place, where he was influential in the property’s transition to becoming part of Starwood Hotels of Boston’s Metro Market Sales Force. Gelfand’s 11-year career with Starwood Resorts and Hotels also includes serving as director of sales at both The Westin Diplomat Resort and Spa in Hollywood, Fla., in addition to The Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort in Orlando, Fla.

Gelfand graduated from Georgia State University with a degree in Hotel/Restaurant and Travel Management.
