Kempinski Ambience Hotel Delhi to open in 2012
February 28, 2012 - The five-star deluxe hotel will be set within an office and conference complex, about a 45-minute drive from Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi, in the historic neighbourhood of East Delhi, Shahdara. The hotel will feature 480 rooms and suites, four restaurants and a bar, and state-of-the-art conference and banqueting facilities, including a Grand Ballroom accommodating up to 5,000 people, making it the ideal destination for leisure and MICE travellers alike. The property also boasts an extensive spa and fitness centre with a sauna and hammam, and two swimming pools, inviting guests to relax after a busy day, or just indulge in some me-time.
The opening of the Kempinski Ambience Hotel Delhi does not affect the 25-year relationship between Kempinski Hotels and Leela Palaces, Hotels & Resorts. In 2011, the parties agreed that it was in the interests of both groups, to optimise the relationship, by aiming for a progressive and controlled phase-out over the next years. The goal is to allow Kempinski Hotels to directly penetrate the highly important Indian market with Kempinski-managed properties, of which the first step in development is now successfully achieved with Kempinski Ambience Hotel Delhi set to open in 2012.
Kempinski Hotels believes that this progressive phase-out will allow Leela Palaces, Hotels & Resorts to continue to benefit from access to Kempinski's strong marketing and sales in markets, while gaining in independence. The existing, long and profitable relationship between the two partners is still valid and the agreements will continue to be honoured by both sides until these expire during 2015 and 2016.
