SAN FRANCISCO, CA - October 8, 2012 - W San Francisco is pleased to announce the appointment of Mark Eberwein as the luxury hotel's new director of operations. A seasoned hospitality leader, Eberwein brings to W San Francisco more than 20 years of industry experience with a special emphasis in food and beverage management at Starwood properties.

Prior to W San Francisco, Eberwein held the title of director of food and beverage at The St. Regis Deer Valley in Park City, Utah. It was during this time that Eberwein was recognized as one of Food & Wine magazine's “Top Sommelier's of 2011” - he was one of just seven sommeliers in the country to receive the honor.

“Mark is a natural fit for this role at W San Francisco for so many reasons,” said W San Francisco General Manager Michael Pace. “Not only does he hold an impressive background in both green initiatives and food and beverage for hotels across the country, but he also has deep knowledge of the West Coast region and Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide. We are delighted to welcome him to our great city and team of dedicated hospitality leaders at W San Francisco.”

Earlier in his career Eberwein worked at the Sheraton Gateway Los Angeles, in a dual role as leader of green activities and director of food and beverage, and prior to that he spent three-and-a-half years as director of food and beverage at Rancho Bernardo Inn in San Diego.

“I am honored and pleased to be a part of a very dynamic team of leaders at W San Francisco,” said Eberwein. “I, too, feel this role is a perfect fit, as our collective experience, passions and commitment to excellence are aligned. I look forward to a creative, productive and successful collaboration at W San Francisco.”
