Sonoma Coast, CA - July 18, 2013 - Sonoma Coast's historic Timber Cove Inn appoints new Executive Chef, William Oliver to oversee the acclaimed restaurant Alexander's and as well as all guest food experiences. Timber Cove Inn is Sonoma County's most popular oceanfront hotel and the property is committed to quality service and all-around excellence that mirrors the beauty of its surroundings. General Manager Robin Mallon wanted to replace the out-going executive chef with someone who had an award-winning culinary presence and a vast amount of wine knowledge, and ultimately selected Chef William Oliver who was named “Best New Chef” (Baltimore Sun, 1997) and “Best in Show” (Napa Valley Mustard Festival, 2005) as well as “Best Experience” (Wall Street Journal, 2005).

The Maryland born and raised Oliver relocated to American Wine Country and has worked for a series of illustrious vineyards and wineries including Folie a Deaux, Clos Pegase, Mayo Family Winery and Arista while honing and sharpening his skills to become a master of the Wine Country culinary style.

Prior to becoming Executive Chef at Timber Cove Inn, Chef Oliver worked at Michelin-rated Cook St. Helena and Russian River's Farmhouse Inn spearheading their respective culinary teams as Chef de Cuisine and Executive Inn Chef, while simultaneously creating a name for himself amongst wine and gourmand connoisseurs. Oliver brings his award-winning talent, hard-earned knowledge, and deft experience to his new home on the majestic Sonoma Coast: Alexander's at Timber Cove Inn. Oliver is excited for the continued opportunity to prepare Wine Country cuisine, now paired with the area's heralded varietals of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from newly-minted Fort Ross-Seaview AVA, residence to such esteemed wineries as Flowers, Fort Ross Vineyard, Hirsch, and Wild Hog to name only a few.

General Manager Robin Mallon has placed high priority on the food and beverage program, and is confident that Chef William Oliver's appointment forecasts great things for Timber Cove Inn's guests.

“An outstanding culinary program truly distinguishes a great hotel from the rest,” states Mallon. “I have no doubt that Chef William Oliver will help lead a food and wine program that stands out as the best hospitality experience on the Sonoma Coast.”

Some of the new seasonal menu items that Chef William has placed on the menu include: Asian Pear Salad, Feta Cheese, Candied Pecans ($10); Creole Shrimp, Grilled Bread ($11); Sous Vide of Lamb Sirloin ($39) and Sonoma Coast Cioppino ($25).
