J Street Hospitality to Build 90-room San Diego Courtyard by Marriott to Open in Summer 2015

SAN DIEGO, CA - MARCH 17, 2014 - J Street Hospitality announced today a new ground up construction project in the heart of the Gaslamp Quarter of San Diego. The Courtyard by Marriott will be a 90-room property and scheduled to open in the summer of 2015. J Street Hospitality is a leading hospitality group specializing in development and acquisitions of select and full service hotels.

"We are excited to open this new hotel as an important addition to the nearby community," stated Sajan Hansji, President, J Street Hospitality. "In the past, it was the site of a failed office project and did not reflect the vibrancy of the neighborhood funneling into the San Diego Convention Center and Petco Park Ballpark. We feel comfortable and knowledgeable in this specific area given our other ground up project, the Residence Inn built in 2010, is in close proximity."

The new property will be a 100% custom urban 14-story building on a minimally sized 5,000 square foot site. The unique project combines the Marriott brand components with a design unlike anything that has ever been done before.

The Gaslamp Quarter

The Gaslamp Quarter is the historic heart of San Diego, California. It is a 16½ block historical neighborhood and is the center of downtown night life. The Quarter is home to many events and festivals, including Mardi Gras in the Gaslamp, Taste of Gaslamp and ShamROCK, a St. Patrick's Day event. The Gaslamp Quarter extends from Broadway to Harbor Drive, and from 4th to 6th Avenue. It includes 94 historic buildings, most of which were constructed in the Victorian Era, and are still in use with active tenants including restaurants, shops and nightclubs.
