. October 01, 2014

San Diego, CA - October 1, 2014 - Destination Hotels announced the promotion of Michael J. Slosser to vice president and area managing director. In his new role, Slosser will lead the comprehensive renovation and repositioning of San Diego's historic Town and Country Resort & Convention Center. The property was acquired June 1 by a partnership comprised of AECOM Capital, Atlas Hotels and Lowe Enterprises and is part of the Destination Hotels collection. Slosser will continue to provide area leadership for L'Auberge Del Mar and Paradise Point Resort, as well as any future California properties added to the company's portfolio.

"Mike is a hospitality visionary who has successfully developed, built, renovated and repositioned unique and iconic properties across the United States," says Thomas Luersen, executive vice president of Lowe Hospitality Group. "His experience in assembling a team of leaders, creating and executing strategy to outperform the market, and his passion for development make him the model candidate for this expanded role and the enormous task of overseeing the transformation of Town and Country."

Over the course of his career, Slosser is most notably recognized for his achievements in fundamentally envisioning, branding, designing and changing hospitality assets, thereby improving the financial performance for investors. For the past 12 years, Slosser has been at the helm of L'Auberge Del Mar Resort in Del Mar, Calif. He engineered the $27M renovation of the property with the closing of the hotel doors in the fall 2007 and the grand reopening in June 2008. The redesign of the property changed it from a dated boutique inn to a warm, inviting coastal estate with panoramic views of the ocean upon entering.

Slosser's extensive background in hotel and resort operations includes the management of more than 15 different assets at the executive level. Most notably, Slosser worked directly for the former White House Chief of Staff - Mr. H. R. Haldeman, who served President Richard Nixon. In this capacity Slosser helped build and develop several world-class hospitality assets. Subsequent to these endeavors, Slosser was responsible for two of the world's finest resorts, the Manele Bay Hotel and The Lodge at Koele, where he served as vice president of resorts. These two Hawaiian resorts were recognized by Conde Nast Traveler as the #1 and #3 ranked golf resorts in the world during his tenure. Additionally, his experience includes time with Westin Hotels and Resorts, Hilton Hotels Corporation and Stouffer Hotels and Resorts. Other notable experiences include operating the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif. for entertainment mogul Merv Griffin, and operating the famed La Costa Resort & Spa located in Carlsbad, Calif. Slosser began his tenure with Destination Hotels in 2001.

Slosser is currently the Chairperson of Visit Del Mar, a non-profit to aid with the marketing of Del Mar and the six hotels located downtown, and has served on the board for six years. He has also served on the board for the Del Mar Village Association. Slosser attended Michigan State University and holds a B.A. degree in Business Administration and is a graduate of the university's Hotel and Restaurant Administration program.
