More Than 200 Attend 'The Perfect Mix'-Themed Festivities at Unique

Chicago, IL - October 13, 2014 - Chicago-area VIPs gathered last night to celebrate the official grand opening of the new dual-branded Hampton Inn and Homewood Suites Chicago Downtown/Magnificent Mile, winner of Hilton Worldwide's 2013 Best Conversion award. Hilton Worldwide and property leadership team members, as well as representatives from Driftwood Hospitality - which owns and operates the hotel - were joined by an array of local business leaders for an evening of festivities.

Guests arriving at the event, dubbed “The Perfect Mix” in celebration of the hotel's unique dual-branded positioning, were greeted by welcome cocktails and a photo station featuring Homewood Suites' Lewis the Duck. Throughout the evening, attendees enjoyed tours of the extensively renovated property (new Homewood Suites Chicago Downtown guestroom pictured right), interactive in-room cooking demonstrations, “The Perfect Mix” signature cocktails, lively jazz performances by the BMR4 - who played in the new

Hampton Inn breakfast area - and “The Perfect Mix” mash-up by Charizma Entertainment, which delighted guests overlooking downtown Chicago from the hotel's 40th floor pool deck. Homewood Suites' Lodge served as a welcoming fireside retreat with warm coffee cocktails and s'mores desserts.

A program of remarks featured Bill Duncan (Hilton Worldwide), Rob Auman (Driftwood Hospitality), Jennie Cimino (Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago) and Peter Austin (Hampton Inn and Homewood Suites Chicago Downtown/Magnificent Mile) - pictured above, left to right. At the end of the evening, departing guests were treated to an authentic Chicago farewell gift, a branded “The Perfect Mix” tin featuring Garrett Popcorn's Garrett Mix®.

A silent auction took place throughout the evening with prizes including, signed memorabilia from professional athletes and air and hotel accommodations to Flamingo Beach Resort & Spa in Costa Rica, raising $17,600 to benefit the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago. Each attendee was also asked to bring a new children's book for donation. Driftwood Hospitality and Hilton Worldwide will donate the several hundred books collected to the hospital during a reading event and donation ceremony, for use on the newly created Lewis' Reading Wagon.
