Lend Lease and IHG Army Hotels to Open 2 Hotels on Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston
The Candlewood Suites and Holiday Inn Express are Part of the Privatization of Army Lodging (PAL) Program
Nashville, Tennessee - October 22, 2014 - Lend Lease (US) Public Partnerships, the nation's leader in public-private community development, will host a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston, Texas on Thursday, October 23, 2014 at 1:00pm. The event will celebrate the opening of the world's largest Candlewood Suites® hotel as well as the opening of the Holiday Inn Express® hotel.
The hotels are part of the Privatization of Army Lodging (PAL) program, a U.S. Army-led program established as a means to revitalize on-post lodging facilities for Soldiers, their families and all government travelers. Lend Lease is the developer for the PAL program, which includes the renovation and development of more than 11,600 hotel rooms on 39 U.S. military installations. IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group), one of the world's largest hotel groups, is the PAL hotel operator.
Selected for its extended-stay hotel model, the new Candlewood Suites® on Joint Base San Antonio features a variety of amenities tailored to meet the unique needs of today's military traveler, including spacious studio and one-bedroom suites, fully-equipped kitchens and large work areas in each guest room, a swimming pool, a 24-hour Candlewood Cupboard® for food and beverages, business and fitness centers, guest laundry facilities, complimentary hot breakfast served daily, and courtesy on-post shuttle service. Lend Lease broke ground on the hotel summer 2012.
