STR Reports US Hotel Occupancy Up for Week Ending November 15, 2014

Occupancy Up 3.9% to 62.7% and Average Daily Rate increased 4.6%%t to US$114.59

November 21, 2014 - The U.S. hotel industry recorded positive results in the three key performance measurements during the week of 9-15 November 2014, according to data from STR, Inc.

In year-over-year measurements, the industry's occupancy rose 3.9 percent to 62.7 percent. Average daily rate increased 4.6 percent to finish the week at US$114.59. Revenue per available room for the week was up 8.6 percent to finish at US$71.89.

Of the Top 25 Markets, 16 reported double-digit RevPAR increases. Philadelphia, Pennsylvania-New Jersey, reported the largest RevPAR increase, jumping 35.0 percent to US$110.58. Five other markets achieved RevPAR growth of more than 15.0 percent: Atlanta, Georgia (+21.7 percent to US$71.84); San Francisco/San Mateo, California (+19.8 percent to US$179.95); Boston, Massachusetts (+18.6 percent to US$153.20); Anaheim/Santa Ana, California (+17.0 percent to US$92.94); and Nashville, Tennessee (+17.0 percent to US$95.02). San Diego, California, fell 8.1 percent in RevPAR to US$93.45, reporting the largest decrease in that metric.

Five markets experienced double-digit ADR increases: Philadelphia (+21.0 percent to US$148.94); Boston (+13.3 percent to US$194.00); San Francisco/San Mateo (+11.4 percent to US$206.21); Nashville (+10.3 percent to US$126.11); and Atlanta (+10.0 percent to US$101.06). New Orleans, Louisiana, fell 6.6 percent to US$159.84 in ADR, reporting the largest decrease in that metric.

Philadelphia (+11.6 percent to 74.2 percent) and Atlanta (+10.6 percent to 71.1 percent) reported the largest occupancy increases. San Francisco/San Mateo posted the largest occupancy decrease, falling 6.1 percent to 70.5 percent.
