Hyatt Regency Trinidad Appoints Rafael Somarriba as Director of Rooms

Hyatt veteran brings 19 years of hospitality management experience to the Caribbean's leading business hotel

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad - December 12, 2014 - Hyatt Regency Trinidad General Manager Russell George proudly announces the appointment of Rafael Somarriba as director of rooms for the Caribbean's leading business hotel, located in Port of Spain, Trinidad. In his new role, Somarriba will oversee all guest, valet and housekeeping services as well as the front office team.

“We are thrilled to have a professional of Rafael's experience and caliber join our team,” said George. “Having held many positions at various Hyatt hotels, he brings in-depth knowledge of our high brand standards as well as international sales experience that will complement and enhance our existing talent.”

Somarriba began his 19-year tenure with Hyatt as an international sales coordinator at Hyatt Regency Miami before moving into the role of front office manager at Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay. He was then asked to support the grand opening of Hyatt Regency Coconut Point in Bonita Springs, Florida, and was later promoted to director of guests services at Manchester Grand Hyatt San Diego.

Next, Somarriba joined the opening team at the 1,100-room Hyatt Regency Denver at the Colorado Convention Center, after which he also supported the opening of Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort and Spa in Austin, Texas. He then served as project manager for the 1,000-room opening of Grand Hyatt San Antonio and was promoted to executive rooms assistant at Hyatt Regency Dearborn. Most recently, he served as executive rooms assistant at Hyatt Regency San Antonio.
