STR Reports US Hotel Occupancy Up for Week Ending March 14, 2015
Occupancy Up 0.3% to 68.2% and Average Daily Rate increased 3.6% to US$120.06
March 23, 2015 - The U.S. hotel industry recorded positive results in the three key performance measurements during the week of 8-14 March 2015, according to data from STR, Inc.
In year-over-year measurements, the industry's occupancy rose 0.3 percent to 68.2 percent. Average daily rate increased 3.6 percent to finish the week at US$120.06. Revenue per available room for the week was up 3.8 percent to finish at US$81.85.
Three of the Top 25 Markets reported double-digit RevPAR increases: Boston, Massachusetts (+19.4 percent to US$128.48); Chicago, Illinois (+16.9 percent to US$87.08); and Tampa/St. Petersburg, Florida (+12.8 percent to US$128.73).
New Orleans, Louisiana, reported the largest RevPAR decrease, dropping 16.3 percent to US$146.60.
Two markets recorded double-digit ADR increases during the week: Nashville, Tennessee (+13.5 percent to US$134.04) and San Diego, California (+10.9 percent to US$150.63).
New Orleans reported the largest ADR decrease, falling 13.9 percent to US$169.30.
Boston (+8.8 percent to 76.3 percent) and Chicago (+7.6 percent to 68.6 percent) recorded the highest occupancy increases.
Denver, Colorado, reported the largest occupancy decrease, slipping 6.9 percent to 72.5 percent during the week.
