Grand Hyatt New York Celebrates Its Charter Members with Grand Gala Event

A Night to Remember Celebrating Longest-Standing Employees

. March 26, 2015

NEW YORK - March 26, 2015 - On March 6, 2015 Grand Hyatt New York celebrated its Charter Members with a Grand Gala Event hosted by the hotel's General Manager, Mark Pardue. The Charter Members are associates who have been with the storied hotel since it officially became Grand Hyatt New York 35 years ago, in 1980. There are 91 Charter Members still working at Grand Hyatt New York today, most of whom were in attendance at the Gala.
The Gala began with a private reception hosted by the Leadership Committee and Mark Pardue in the iconic Empire State Ballroom. Previously known as the Commodore Ballroom, it was the room where President John F. Kennedy accepted the Democratic Party nomination for President in 1960. Martin Luther King Jr. gave a speech in the ballroom in 1956 and former President Bill Clinton and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton celebrated her victory of the New York Senate race. But on March 6, the attentions and festivities were focused on the Charter Members.

During the Grand Gala Event, senior management danced a choreographed routine onstage for the associates and awards were given out to the hotel's top performers. Director of Banquets, Patrick Schumm, was named Manager of the Year. Patrick Price, who has been a Steward for 20 years, was named Associate of the Year, and Purchasing was the Team of the Year. A three-course dinner was served to 700 Grand Hyatt New York associates followed by a special oversized 35th birthday cupcake. After dinner, everyone danced well into the evening.

“We are very fortunate to have this opportunity to show our appreciation for our longest-standing associates with a celebration of this magnitude,” said Pardue. “Our associates are an intergral part of what make staying at Grand Hyatt New York such a memorable experience. We are proud to have so many colleagues with us from the very year this property became Grand Hyatt New York.”
