Distinctive Hospitality Group Begins Renovation for Connecticut's 182-room Hilton Mystic Hotel

. April 28, 2015

MYSTIC, CN. - April 28, 2015. The Hilton Mystic hotel, located in the center of Olde Mystic's Seaport, Aquarium, and shopping hub has begun the first phase of its total transformation. Distinctive Hospitality Group (DHG), who acquired the 182-room full service hotel in the spring of 2014, immediately went to work crafting the scope of the renovation which includes all guestrooms, public areas, bar and restaurant, bathrooms, pool and fitness areas, as well as exterior landscaping and lighting.

"The design concept is heavily influenced by the architectural underpinnings of the Seaport," said Lou Carrier, President of DHG. "You can't be in the heart of true Mystic and not give credence to the history, culture, and soul of the Seaport area. This transformation is too important to the state of Connecticut, the Mystic region, and most importantly our neighbors. They've been patient long enough. We're committed to presenting a fresh, first class hotel with contemporary flair and genuine nod to our historic and vibrant neighborhood."

DHG selected CBT Architects of Boston to partner leading the re-design of the property. Jacqueline McGee, Principal, Director of Hospitality Design personally led the team that worked with Carrier and DHG. "Lou indicated he wanted to push every convention of typical hotel design and truly activate and integrate all of the public spaces. That is what we do and why we were so committed to this project. The design is comfortable, edgy, and fun. We know the mandate from DHG as well as Hilton Hotels was to reestablish one of the finest hotels in Connecticut and secure AAA Four Diamond recognition. Together, I am confident we will deliver just that. Guests will be blown away."

DHG chose C.E. Floyd Company, a prominent Connecticut-based General Contractor, to spearhead the project construction. "We've had great success with C.E. Floyd in recent years," said Carrier, "whether new construction like the Madison Beach Hotel (in Madison, CT) or renovation projects in some of our Boston area hotels and restaurants, they've been creative, collaborative partners who do what they say they will."

Renovations commenced April 1 and will finish during mid-summer 2015. The project is being completed floor by floor and by specific sections to eliminate interference with guest activities.
