Gila River Indian Community Opens the Four Points by Sheraton Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport Hotel

Phoenix, AZ. - May 25, 2015. The Gila River Indian Community and Starwood Hotels and Resorts recently celebrated the grand opening of the new Four Points by Sheraton at Phoenix Mesa Gateway Airport. This 134 key property is one of the first Four Points by Sheraton properties that incorporates the Four Points by Sheraton's latest generation of design. As the primary anchor of the Toka Sticks development in Mesa, Arizona, the hotel is conveniently located adjacent to the Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport (AZA), Arizona State University's Polytechnic Campus, East Valley Institute of Technology, and near the confluence of the East Valley cities of Mesa, Gilbert, and Queen Creek at 6850 E. Williams Field Road.

As the hotel is also directly adjacent to the historic Toka Sticks Golf Club, the property offers sweeping views of the course that add to the resort feel. The new Four Points by Sheraton is 74,000 square feet and includes 130 guestrooms and 4 suites. The six-story hotel features a spacious bar & restaurant with private dining, 2,000 square feet of meeting and event space (both indoor and outdoor), an oversized fully-equipped 24-hour fitness center, and heated outdoor pool.

Earlier this year, the historical 160 acre Toka Sticks 18-hole golf course received several upgrades, and a new 3,900 square foot mid-century design club house, pro shop, grille and patio, along with a state of the art 4,000 square foot cart barn was constructed. The existing Toka Sticks Golf Course remained open during construction utilizing a temporary clubhouse.

The Architect/Interior Designer for the Hotel and Golf Clubhouse was RSP Architects, and the General Contractor was W.E. O'Neil Construction.

The Toka Sticks Chevron Convenience Store & Gas Station, which is also part of the Toka Sticks development, opened earlier this year. The Architect was Esencia Architecture and Urban Design, and the General Contractor was A.R. Mays Construction.

The Toka Sticks development is owned by the Gila River Indian Community (GRIC) and developed by the Wild Horse Pass Development Authority. TynanGroup was the Project Manager for all aspects of the Toka Sticks development project.
