The Partridge Inn in Augusta, Georgia Appoints Lloyd Van Horn as General Manager

. June 23, 2015

AUGUSTA, GA. JUNE 23, 2015 - The Partridge Inn in Augusta, Ga. announced the appointment of Lloyd Van Horn as their new general manager. Lloyd Van Horn capitalizes on The Partridge Inn's recent $6 million room renovation and will continue to oversee phase two of improvements to the hotel's common spaces and P.I. Bar & Grill, which are scheduled to be complete at the end of August.

Van Horn brings a wealth of experience managing award-winning luxury boutique hotels. Throughout his successful career, Van Horn spearheaded hotel and restaurant operations at Relais & Chateaux rated properties: The Grove Isle Hotel & Spa in Florida, a private Island minutes from Miami; The Point in Saranac Lake, New York, a retreat in the Adirondack Mountains; The Willcox in Aiken, South Carolina; and The Planters Inn in Charleston, South Carolina.

"The Partridge Inn is an institution that needed to be resurrected," said Van Horn. "The service and food are the heart and soul of the property and we will continue to hone in on this very important aspect of the hotel by offering exceptional and affordable menu choices. Coupled with the careful and thoughtful redesign and renovation of our rooms and meeting space, the team will focus on providing the best guest experience in Augusta."

Van Horn's accomplished hotelier career spans more than 25 years; by age 19 he entered the hotel business and fell in love with hospitality. The years of experience have taught him his secret recipe that he brings to all his properties: the guest dictates the policy. The answer is yes, we just need to know the question. His properties have racked up national awards: Planters Inn was rated the number one city hotel by Travel & Leisure; The Point was rated top five in the world in service by Conde Nast; and Topnotch Resort and Spa in Vermont was awarded a top 10 resort and spa by Conde Nast as well as the number one ski resort in the Northeast.

"The Partridge Inn team is thrilled to welcome a manager with the caliber of hotels that Van Horn has managed," said Gregory Winey, President of Northpointe Hospitality Management, LLC. "He re-launched Montauk Yacht Club after renovations and that experience will be exceptionally useful to the staff and management of the hotel as he leads the team beyond The Partridge Inn's rebirth."

The historic hotel, which first opened in 1910, completed a $6 million overhaul to its 144 guest rooms in March. Phase two renovations are currently underway to restore the property to its status as Augusta's Grand Dame of Hospitality. You can follow the renovation progress at partridgeinn.com.

About The Partridge Inn

The Partridge Inn began life in the 1890s as a modest two-story private residence, opening as The Partridge Inn in 1910. The hotel enjoyed such great success, that expansion after expansion led to its present city-block size in 1929. The hotel gained prominence as a central gathering spot for the winter elite, hosting golf legends, presidents and legendary tea-dances in its grand halls and ballrooms, while the ground floor housed a post office, telegraph office, flower shop, bookstore, barbershop and hairdressing parlor. Over the next few decades, The Partridge Inn reigned as the epicenter for social activity and out-of-town guests. But time eventually took its toll, and the aging hotel faced total demolition in 1978. She found a white knight in Sam Waller, a local attorney and preservationist who was determined to save the cherished Augusta landmark. Shortly before he passed away, Waller successfully defended the building against being torn down; he then sold it to Partridge Place Associates, a partnership formed to completely restore the hotel. The Partridge Inn reopened in 1987, continued to prosper and receive recognition for its restoration. In 2014, The Partridge Inn was purchased by Partridge Inn Holdings, LLC with the goal of a complete renovation that would restore the hotel to its early 1900s splendor while providing amenities that today's travelers have come to expect. Phase one of the renovation was completed in March 2015 and Phase two is scheduled to be completed August 2015. partridgeinn.com
