Alexis Kagan Named Director of Sales & Marketing at Thompson Playa Del Carmen, Riviera Maya, Mexico

PLAYA DEL CARMEN, ME. September 23, 2015 - Thompson Playa del Carmen, the first-of-its-kind luxury lifestyle hotel located in the heart of downtown Playa del Carmen, today announced the appointment of Alexis Kagan as Director of Sales and Marketing. Kagan will oversee all sales and marketing efforts, including digital and creative marketing efforts, branding initiatives, strategic local and regional partnerships, advertising and regional, national and international media efforts.

Kagan is a dynamic and creative sales and marketing leader bringing more than 18 years of experience in luxury hotels to Thompson Playa del Carmen. Kagan will be instrumental in establishing core initiatves that will help deliver exceptional service and guest experiences at Thompson Playa del Carmen. Kagan will also play an important role in establishing the Thompson brand's presence in the Mexico market, particularly Thompson Playa del Carmen as the only luxury lifestyle hotel in Riviera Maya.

Prior to joining Thompson Playa del Carmen, Kagan served as the consulting Executive Director of Sales at SLS Hotel Las Vegas, directing sales efforts for the hotel and catering teams with a focus on leadership, business mix and strategy, new business development and lead conversion, and talent acquisition, training and development. Before her role with SLS, Kagan served as Area Director of Sales and Marketing for Kimpton Hotels in Los Angeles, directing the sales and marketing efforts for multiple award-winnning properties in Southern California, overseeing a team of fifteen. During this position, Kagan directed the pre-opening sales and marketing efforts for new properties in La Jolla and Los Angeles, and consulted pre-opening iniativies in San Diego and Santa Babara, creating revenue-generating strategies for guestrooms and catering, and overseeing physical and digital marketing initiatives.

With extensive experience in the hospitality industry working for properties around the world, Kagan also served as Director of Sales and Marketing at Hotel Palomar, a Kimpton Hotel in Los Angeles, where she was instrumental in achieving significant increased performance in an under-performing hotel; Director of Sales at The Ritz-Carlton, Key Biscayne; Sales Executive at The Ritz-Carlton Club and Residences in St. Thomas and South Beach; and Sales Manager at The Ritz-Carlton New Orleans.

Kagan is involved in numerous industry organizations and non-profit organizations, including Meeting Professionals International Southern California Chapter (MPISCC), Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International (HSMAI), Los Angeles Business Travel Association (LABTA), American Association for Professional Women, Dress for Success Worldwide and West Coast, and Project Angel Food.

Kagan earned her Bachelor's degree in Restaurant & Tourism Administration and Marketing from the University of New Orleans in 2002.
