JW Marriott Marquis Miami Awarded Tripadvisor Greenleaders Status

November 10, 2015 - JW Marriott Marquis Miami today proudly announced it has been accepted as a Bronze level GreenLeader into the TripAdvisor® GreenLeaders™ program, which helps travelers around the world plan greener trips by highlighting hotels and B&Bs engaging in environmentally-friendly practices.

TripAdvisor GreenLeaders properties have met a set of environmental standards developed for TripAdvisor by a leading environmental consulting firm, with input from expert partners. The more green practices a hotel has in place, the higher its GreenLeader level, which is shown on the property's listing on the TripAdvisor site.

Travelers can now search for accommodations that have TripAdvisor GreenLeaders status on the TripAdvisor site, and view a detailed list of environmentally-friendly practices that they can expect at each location.

The TripAdvisor GreenLeaders program was developed in consultation with the United Nations Environment Programme, the U.S. Green Building Council, ENERGY STAR®, and the International Center for Responsible Tourism Canada, among other leading environmental organizations.

Additional environmentally-friendly recognitions for the hotel include achieving Three Palm Certification as Florida Green Lodging Program Designated Properties. The JW Marriott Marquis Miami achieved this new rating by implementing innovative resources and practices in their green efforts, including the AquaRecycle™ water-conserving laundry machine in the laundry area, the INCOMM E528 by Honeywell energy saving thermostats in guest rooms, the Green Meeting initiative for groups, and the new Power Knot Liquid Food Composter (LFC). Additional green initiatives include water conservation through low-flow plumbing fixtures, linen reuse programs, the installation of ENERGY STAR appliances and programmable thermostats, and the use of green cleaners and high-efficiency air filters throughout the hotel. Subsequently, the hotel has earned both water efficiency and energy efficiency sustainability awards from the Greater Miami and the Beaches Hotel Association.
