. January 13, 2016

SAN FRANCISCO, CA. January 13, 2016 - Hilary Newsom and Jeremy Scherer, partners in The PlumpJack Group, along with Noah Hahn and Gerry Engle, partners in Meriwether Companies, are pleased to announce a joint venture for the acquisition of The Cobblestone Inn, located in Carmel-by-the-Sea, California. The new partners have renamed the property The Hideaway and will embark on a series of updates and renovations to preserve the property's inherent charm while adding the modern comforts and amenities that are welcomed by today's travelers.

This acquisition also marks the beginning of a larger partnership between the two companies, as The PlumpJack Group and Meriwether Companies will collaborate on the redevelopment of the PlumpJack Squaw Inn in Lake Tahoe and partner on the acquisition and development of existing PlumpJack holdings including Forgery, a new bar in San Francisco's mid-market district, and the new iteration of the Lexington Club, in San Francisco's Mission District.

"The joint venture with Meriwether Companies marks an important expansion milestone for The PlumpJack Group as we strategically grow our portfolio of distinctly unique, award-winning hospitality and lifestyle experiences," said Jeremy Scherer, President of The PlumpJack Group. "Meriwether brings over five decades of collective real estate experience focused on distinctive hospitality projects and in the coming months, we'll be making exciting renovations and upgrades to The Hideaway that will further enhance its appearance and the guest experience."

"We are thrilled to be investing and working together with PlumpJack in Carmel-by-the Sea," said Noah Hahn, Managing Partner with Meriwether Companies. "The opportunity to create a great lodging experience in an iconic setting such as Carmel is exciting for both of our firms."

Formerly known as The Cobblestone Inn, The Hideaway will operate as a 24-room boutique bed and breakfast. Perfectly situated at the corner of Junipero Street and 8th Avenue in the heart of Carmel Village, the charming exterior features a Carmel-river cobblestone terrace surrounded by lovely gardens. Shopworks, an interior design firm that focuses on boutique hotels, lounges, restaurants and retail, will oversee the design and execution of the room renovations. Shopworks' impressive list of distinctive projects includes The Carneros Inn, Sundance Resort, Odette Winery and Forgery, among many others. The renovations will include all of the bedrooms, the guest lobby and dining area. The inn will close for the renovations, and re-open in spring 2016.
