Navy Lodge Program Honors 2015 Worldwide Award Winners

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA. May 10, 2016 - The Navy Lodge Program announced its 2015 award winners during its annual worldwide Training and Strategy Workshop. The awards highlight outstanding guest service in a variety of different facets of the Navy Lodge.

“All our Navy Lodge general managers and associates work hard to provide PREMIER guest service each and every day for our guests,” said Michael Bockelman, Vice President, Navy Exchange Service Command's (NEXCOM) Navy Lodge Program. “These awards are our way to honor them for all the work they do for our guests. Congratulations to each of the winners for a job very well done.”

The Carlson Award is given to a Navy Lodge for its achievements in guest satisfaction, associate experience, commitment to quality and focus on providing outstanding value to the Navy. The Navy Lodge of the Year is Navy Lodge Jacksonville, Fla. The winner in the medium category is Navy Lodge Key West, Fla., while the winner in the large category is Navy Lodge Yokosuka, Japan.

Malerie Shipe-Meyers, Navy Lodge Annapolis, Md., was named Navy Lodge General Manager of the Year. The Associate of the Year was awarded to DiaRaquel James-McWilliams, Navy Lodge Yokosuka, Japan. The Marketer of the Year was awarded to two General Managers, Rachel Guerrero, Navy Lodge Hawaii, and Maria Gonzalez, Navy Lodge North Island, Calif.

Hospitality Awards were presented to the Navy Lodges that are rated the highest by guests in a variety of areas of guest service. The grand winner, Navy Lodge of the Year is Navy Lodge Sasebo, Japan. The winning Navy Lodge in the medium category is Navy Lodge Everett, Wash., and Navy Lodge Jacksonville, Fla., won in the large category.

The Navy Lodge PCS Award was given to Navy Lodge Sasebo, Japan, for the Navy Lodge with the highest room night increase in permanent change of station (PCS) room nights. Navy Lodge Moffett Field, Calif., received the Navy Lodge PCS Award for highest percentage increase in PSC rooms.

Also given out at the workshop were awards from The American Hotel and Lodging Association Educational Institute (AHLAEI). These awards are made annually to hotels throughout the world that meet certain standards and requirements. This year, Navy Lodge Everett, Wash., received its Meritorious Award, the highest award issued by AHLAEI. Navy Lodge Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and Navy Lodge Sasebo, Japan, each received the Gold Pineapple Award, the second highest award AHLAEI presents.
