The Marker San Francisco Reveals Refreshed Interior Spaces and Soon-To-Launch, New Restaurant

. June 23, 2016

SAN FRANCISCO, CA. June 23, 2016 - The Marker San Francisco, a new addition to Joie de Vivre Hotels, is enhancing its already charming aesthetics with a property refresh planned for later this year that will include the hotel lobby and meeting spaces, as well as the launch of a new restaurant, slated to open on June 20. Surrounded by the city's top theaters, restaurants, shops and museums, including the new SFMOMA, the urban boutique hotel offers guests a dynamic and elevated cultural San Francisco experience.

“We are proud to have joined the growing, native San Francisco Joie de Vivre Hotels brand,” said Chris Jones, general manager for The Marker. “We look forward to welcoming guests and locals alike to our new restaurant and hope they'll enjoy the hotel's reimagined spaces that will engage the five senses by providing authentically-curated experiences.”

The new restaurant, Tratto - led by Executive Chef Kevin Scott and created by San Francisco's Puccini Group - is a spirited, bar-driven concept that will serve rustic Italian fare with modern sensibilities. “Tratto” means the stroke of a pen or a mark in Italian, nodding to both the neighborhood's artistic history and the hotel's name, The Marker. Tratto's flavorful menu of simple, shareable dishes coupled with casual, communal-style dining creates a neighborhood bar experience inspired by the Italian tradition of “aperitivo,” or happy hour. The menu features house-made pastas and sausages, pizzas, and seasonal vegetables and seafood prepared with as little manipulation as possible, ranging from slow-cooked braises to “à la minute” cuisine. Guests can enjoy 12 to 15 traditional Italian cocktails “with a twist,” as well as bottled cocktails, Italian cream sodas, house-made limoncellos, and an enticing selection of West Coast and Italian beers. A carefully curated wine program showcases fifteen wines offered by the glass, as well as two on tap, in addition to a house “jug wine” and 50 wines by the bottle sourced from Italy and California.

The Marker recently debuted eight spa suites and added an incredible meeting space and ballroom, Bellevue Room, which was concepted by San Francisco-based designer Ken Fulk. The spacious spa suites offer guests the finest in accommodations with enhanced bathrooms with soaking tubs and the option to have a spa treatment in-room. The Bellevue Room's floor-to-ceiling windows - offering views of the Theatre District - striking chandeliers, and combination of bold and soft colors and patterns add elegance and refinement to the new space. The design of the spa suites and Bellevue Room will inspire the upcoming interior space enhancements and amplify the Beaux Arts style of the building, while giving it a more modern appeal.

The property will also introduce additional enhancements, including new artwork on display at the on-site restaurant from local, resident artist Amos Goldbaum. Goldbaum has created a variety of large landscape pieces for the restaurant that are inspired by the iconic vistas, streets and skylines of San Francisco.

Refreshed lobby activations include an enlivened social hour, which will be a rotating experience showcasing locally-inspired art, spirits and live music. To further add to the hotel's cultural and wellness initiatives, The Marker recently launched adult coloring books and eye masks that will be available for guests by request. For guests looking to explore the city of San Francisco and the surrounding art scene, The Marker is entrenched; the property's “Culturist” is available to offer insight on unique, cultural experiences.
