Hyatt House New York/Chelsea Expected to Open in Fall 2016

Hyatt House hotel will take root in Manhattan's iconic Chelsea neighborhood

. August 31, 2016

NEW YORK, N.Y. August 31, 2016 - Lexin Capital and Real Hospitality Group (RHG) are pleased to announce the anticipated fall opening of Hyatt House New York/Chelsea, a sleek 150-room extended stay hotel that will be situated at the center of Chelsea's historic Flower District. The 30-story property will exemplify the Hyatt House brand and will be the first Hyatt House hotel in New York City. The hotel will provide the comforts of home with contemporary touches including floor-to-ceiling windows, lofty guestrooms, apartment-style kitchen suites, and sweeping views of the city's skyline.

Hyatt House New York/Chelsea will be within walking distance to the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), the world-renowned Macy's flagship store, Madison Square Garden, and numerous Chelsea art galleries and restaurants. Additionally, the hotel will be central to a variety of tourist attractions, including the Empire State Building, Times Square, Bryant Park, Chelsea Market, High Line Park, and the Theater District.

Design and Guestrooms

Nestled at the corner of 6th Avenue and 28th Street, Hyatt House New York/Chelsea will be an entirely new building and is being designed by Nobutaka Ashihara Architect PC, whose previous projects include Hotel 48LEX and Courtyard New York Manhattan/Central Park. The hotel will showcase a strong, vertical expression complemented by clean lines and a glossy, slender facade standing 30 stories high.

Averaging approximately 340 square feet, 150 sprawling guestrooms will feature expansive bathrooms with glass walk-in showers offering KennetMD bath products. Many rooms will also include comfy furnishings including plush couches, 43-inch or larger flat panel televisions and dedicated workspaces. Seventy-four of the rooms will be furnished with kitchenettes containing stainless steel appliances that will cater to any traveler's need. All rooms will be furnished with a refrigerator and a microwave oven. Communal washers and dryers, as well as 60 connecting units for families and groups, will also be available for those on an extended stay, further providing the comforts of home. The sprawling floor-to-ceiling windows will allow for natural light to fill into each guestroom, providing striking views of Manhattan's skyline. An understated color palate consisting of chocolate soft gray and ivory hues, will be complemented with floral artwork that evoke themes of Chelsea's Flower District.

The hotel's stylish lobby will have a dedicated House Host who will welcome guests and expedite arrivals. The ground floor will house 2Beans, a high-end chocolate and espresso shop.

A standout design element will include a 30th floor indoor rooftop fitness center and an outdoor recreational area with gym equipment from Life Fitness and priceless views of Manhattan including the Empire State Building, Chrysler Building, One World Trade Center, and the Statue of Liberty.

“The inspiration behind the hotel's exterior design is derived from the many vertical structures in Manhattan, but instead of uniform widths of masonry and glass columns, we wanted to use natural random widths like various sized trees in a park. We picked the soft limestone color and contrasted with a light blue tinted glass to achieve a sense of harmony as if one is at the beach looking out to the sea or blue sky,” says Founder and President Metin Negrin of Lexin Capital. “Hyatt House New York/Chelsea will be an exemplary urban adaptation of the Hyatt House brand - we carefully considered the demands of the sophisticated traveler and the needs of international guests.”

Dining

Numerous food and beverage options will be on the hotel's second floor at the H BAR, a centralized gathering space at the hotel that will offer guests the complimentary Morning Spread, which includes the brand's signature Omelet Bar, a waffle station, fresh fruit, oatmeal, and other sweet and savory options. In the evenings, the H BAR will transform into an intimate setting with delicious home-cooked comforts. Creative cocktails, as well as beer and wines, will also be available from the Sip+Savor menu. The 24-hour H MARKET, which will be located on the ground floor, will be accessible for everyday items including gourmet groceries, fresh salads, snacks, and sandwiches, in addition to “ready meals” so that guests can fully utilize their guestroom kitchens if they choose. House Hosts will also provide complimentary grocery shopping service and stock kitchens with preferred items for extended-stay guests.

“The Chelsea neighborhood will provide the perfect backdrop for Hyatt House New York/Chelsea, not only due to the proximity of iconic attractions, but because of the rich history of the Flower District,” said General Manager Ashley Mahon. “We are thrilled this hotel will be an incredible representation of the Hyatt House brand located in one of the most visited cities in the world. Whether it's an overnight trip or for an extended period of time, we want our guests to truly feel at home, and we are confident that Hyatt House New York/Chelsea will evoke a sense of comfort and personalization.”

Hyatt House New York/Chelsea will be part of the J.D. Power-recognized Hyatt House brand, which was recently named “Highest in Guest Satisfaction among Upper Extended Hotel Chains” by J.D. Power in its annual North America Hotel Guest Satisfaction Index StudySM.
