Ascott Thailand Successfully Reaches Goal to Raise Over 100K Funds from Ascott Charity Run 2016

. October 11, 2016

SINGAPORE, October 11, 2016 - CapitaLand's wholly-owned serviced residence business unit, The Ascott Limited (Ascott), with the support of CapitaLand Hope Foundation (CHF), has recently organised its first Ascott Charity Run in Thailand. The objective of this event is to raise funds for over 500 underprivileged students at the Doi Wiangpha Pittaya School - a remote hill-tribe school in Chiang Rai province.

Ascott Charity Run 2016 was held at the Lumpini Park in Bangkok on 2 October 2016. Besides its residents, management and staff, Ascott helped to promote a healthier community by bringing the locals together to participate in the five kilometre charity race. Over 600 tickets were sold across 10 of Ascott's properties in Thailand and 10 leading consumer products brands also joined in supporting the event.

The Doi Wiangpha Pittaya School is a Thai government school located within the GoldenTriangle of Northern Thailand. The school provides education to students from kindergarten up to the ninth grade, with about 50 students living within the school premises.

Ascott Thailand has been supporting the Doi Wiangpha Pittaya School since 2014, in collaboration with iCare Thailand Foundation. Each year, volunteers comprising senior management and staff from Ascott and iCare will visit the school to donate funds, refurbish the school's facilities, arrange a variety of edutainment activities for the students and also visit some of their families in the nearby villages.

Last year, Ascott and CHF organised the first CapitaLand International Volunteer Expedition to the Doi Wiangpha Pittaya School. Close to 50 volunteers from CapitaLand, including staff from Ascott Thailand as well as countries such as China, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore and Vietnam joined hands to help upgrade the school's exterior and refurbish the playground. The volunteers also conducted a specially designed lesson, named the 'CapitaLand Little Architect Programme', to enable the students to learn building and construction concepts in a simple and fun way.

In Thailand, Ascott currently operates 10 properties with over 1,800 units in Bangkok and Sri Racha. They are Ascott Sathorn Bangkok, Citadines Sukhumvit 8 Bangkok, Citadines Sukhumvit 11 Bangkok, Citadines Sukhumvit 16 Bangkok, Citadines Sukhumvit 23 Bangkok, Somerset Lake Point Bangkok, Somerset Park Suanplu Bangkok, Somerset Sukhumvit Thonglor Bangkok, Citadines Grand Central Sri Racha and the newly opened Metropole Bangkok.
