Grand Hyatt Playa Del Carmen Resort Welcomes Leida Cámara as New Director of the Cenote Spa

. March 29, 2017

PLAYA DEL CARMEN, MX. March 29, 2017 - Grand Hyatt Playa del Carmen Resort is pleased to announce the appointment of luxury hospitality professional Ledia Cámara as the new director of the Cenote Spa. Cámara joins the luxury Playa del Carmen resort as part of an ambitious project that promises to further position the Cenote Spa as one of the world's most renowned destination spas.

An established leader in the hospitality industry, Cámara has 17 years of experience, 13 of which have been dedicated to spa management, with expertise and specialty in aromatherapy, elaboration of cosmetic and medicinal natural products, and cosmetology. In her quest to expand her knowledge and experience of all the departments of the hospitality industry, she began her studies as a spa therapist and aromatherapy medicine in 2004.

"We are thrilled to welcome Ledia to our world-class Cenote Spa," said Juan Mercadante, general manager of Grand Hyatt Playa del Carmen Resort. "Her skillset and passion for hospitality are qualities that will be a great addition for our guests to provide them with unique experience at our luxurious facility that will outshine their expectations."

Cámara has worked extensively throughout the hospitality industry in Mexico, having served as spa director at Hotel Esencia in the Riviera Maya, Hotel Matilda in San Miguel de Allende, Maroma Resort & SPA by Belmond in the Riviera Maya, and Portal la Vissta in Cuernavaca. She has also served as a consultant to independent spas, providing on her own to local therapists and people interested in topics such as aromatherapy, Swedish massage, sports massage, deep tissue massage, hot stone massage, lymphatic drainage massage, Thai massage, Lomi Lomi Hawaiian massage, and massage for rehabilitation.

Winner of the 'Best of Year 2015' award by Interior Design magazine, the Sordo Madaleno-designed Cenote Spa at Grand Hyatt Playa del Carmen Resort is an ideal relaxing retreat getaway. With a design inspired by cenotes - important geological features found in the Yucatan Peninsula that are believed by the Mayan people to cleanse and purify the soul - the Cenote Spa captures the serenity and beauty of these iconic freshwater sinkholes in its design through a combination of intricate stonework detail, dramatic lighting and soothing textures. The Cenote Spa also offers an array of signature services that are inspired by the Mayan culture, including the Mayan Bliss massage, Agave Utstal Repair treatment, and the Gift of the Gods Obsidian Hot Stone massage. The spacious 6,000 sq. ft. spa is as exclusive as it is impressive with only eight treatment rooms and specialty facilities including hydrotherapy stations, a eucalyptus steam room, fiber optic chromotherapy showers, and a rejuvenating fitness center.
