Gainesville's Newest Hotel Appoints General Manager

Robert Plutto brings 20+ years of experience to modern AC Hotel Gainesville Downtown

GAINESVILLE, FL. NOVEMBER 15, 2017 - Just steps from the University of Florida, the new AC Hotel Gainesville Downtown, set to open in early 2018 and managed by Concord Hospitality, has appointed Robert Plutto as General Manager.

In his new role, Plutto will spearhead the opening for the property and oversee all operational aspects for the 144-room hotel, including maximizing financial performance, maintaining guest satisfaction, promoting the property within key feeder markets, and upholding AC Hotels' brand standards.

The Pittsburgh native comes to AC Hotel Gainesville Downtown with more than 20 years of hospitality and tourism experience. After earning a Bachelor's Degree in Hotel Restaurant Institutional Management from Mercyhurst College, Plutto began his career as the Assistant Front Desk Manager at the Charlotte Marriot City Center in North Carolina. Having developed a knack for hospitality management, Plutto quickly progressed to senior roles, including Director of Operations and Assistant General Manager for two properties in the Mid-Atlantic region.

With more than a decade of experience under his belt, Plutto was named Regional Operations Director for Shaner Hotel Group, a leading hotel owner, developer and operator with more than 45 properties across the U.S. and internationally. In 2014, he moved on to General Manager for the Courtyard by Marriott in Bridgeport West Virginia and was awarded 'Hotel Opening of the Year' within the Marriott Courtyard brand.
