Historic Harrison's Chesapeake House Reborn as Wylder Hotel Tilghman Island Following Renovation and Rebranding

USA, Tilghman Island, Maryland. February 21, 2018

For over a century Harrison's Chesapeake House, an iconic hotel on Maryland's Tilghman Island, served as a refuge for politicians, U.S. senators, governors and sports figures from the nation's capital. Despite its storied past, the once glorious Chesapeake House fell into despair with the 2008 financial downturn.

Now, Harrison's Chesapeake House is completely renovated and reborn as Wylder Hotel Tilghman Island, making it a destination unto itself as the newest lifestyle resort in the Chesapeake Bay. Debuting April 2018, Wylder Hotel Tilghman Island invites guests to a true waterfront haven set on nine acres. The bayside retreat comprises 54 newly-designed guest rooms that channel a relaxed seaside cottage vibe infused with modern comforts and style, a new salt water swimming pool, three food and beverage concepts, 3,000 square feet of meeting and event space, 25 boat slips. Guests will have a choice between two restaurants envisioned by Chef Sean Wheaton, a seven-year alum of Jose Andres' Think Food Group.

As a new hospitality brand seeking storied destinations for curious travelers, Wylder Hotels specifically chose Tilghman Island for its premier location as a gem of untouched beauty, farmland and the heart and soul of the working waterman. The incarnation of the illustrious hotel embraces the history and is built on the legacy by continuing the Harrison's Charter Fishing expeditions with the same fleet of captains, VIP guests have come to know and love.

Equal parts relaxation and adventure, Wylder Hotel Tilghman Island offers the charm of a bayside bed and breakfast with the feel of a luxury hotel. The guest rooms boast dark navy wainscoting and warm sisal carpet reinforcing this historic property, surrounded by expansive Oceanside meadows. A clean and handsome palette of golden wood headboards, brass fixtures, and woven rattan lounge chairs, deepen the connection to a sense of place.

Redesigned lush grounds further enhance the property and emphasize the island's locale as a natural, year-round sanctuary ideal for family vacations, romantic getaways, wanderlust weddings and unique corporate events. In addition to Charter Fishing, guests will have access to explore the area on stand-up paddleboards and kayaks or play bocce and other lawn games on the grounds.

“As we grow our portfolio of all-season escapes in unexpected destinations, we're ecstatic to begin our story as a new hotel brand on Tilghman Island,” said John Flannigan, Founder and CEO of Wylder Hotels. “We're extremely proud to work with the community to revitalize this esteemed property while offering guests modern enhancements and an authentic experience on Maryland's Eastern Shore.”

For its first venture, Wylder Hotels partnered with Revolver New York, a full-service branding agency to transform the historical property into the Eastern Shore's newest waterside resort.

“Tilghman Island is an ideal first location to unveil our vision for the Wylder Hotels brand,” noted Revolver New York founder and creative director, Vincent Ficarra. “We developed a brand that will attract and excite savvy explorers in search of a genuine and adventurous hotel getaway.”

Wylder Hotel's CEO and Founder, John Flannigan brings more than twenty years of hospitality experience leading teams in acquiring, rebranding, and operating iconic hotels such as Hotel Giraffe NYC, The Roger, Oceana Santa Monica, Ace NY, Avalon Beverly Hills and Palm Springs, and Hollywood Proper.
