NewcrestImage Opens New Dual-Branded TownePlace Suites & SpringHill Suites Hotels in New Orleans

USA, New Orleans, Louisiana. March 12, 2018

NewcrestImage has opened a new dual-branded hotel at 1600 Canal Street in New Orleans.  The 13-floor building, constructed in 1960 but vacant since 2005, has undergone a major renovation to feature two Marriott brands -- a 105-room TownePlace Suites and a 74-room SpringHill Suites.

The property is strategically located at the intersection of Interstate 10, just nine blocks from the historic French Quarter district.  It is adjacent across the interstate highway to the city's 1,500-acre, $1.2 billion BioDistrict, which is a state-supported economic development area that serves as a model of collaboration in health care and research between medical facilities, educational institutions, and private enterprise.

“We are excited about bringing dynamic new life to both this building and this community with the area's first dual-branded hotel,” said Mehul Patel, Chairman and CEO of NewcrestImage.  “Our property offers travelers a distinctive new option in local style and spirit.”

The TownePlace Suites caters to extended-stay guests and is the first property of this brand in the greater New Orleans area, while the SpringHill Suites focuses on more traditional short business and leisure stays.

The two hotels share a single blended lobby, registration desk, breakfast area, and lounge.  There is a single management and sales team, as well as a single housekeeping staff, with personnel thoroughly cross-trained about the distinctive features of both brands.

A distinguishing feature of the property is an 8,000 sq. ft. rooftop bar, appropriately called “Vue,” that provides a panoramic view of the Canal Street neighborhood.

NewcrestImage has been active in New Orleans since 2013, when it acquired property on Carondelet Street in the French Quarter that opened in November of 2014 as the first AC by Marriott brand hotel in the United States.  The company sold that property in late 2015.

The new hotels in New Orleans continue NewcrestImage's extensive experience with dual-branded properties.  The company opened the first dual-branded in the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area in December of 2013 and the first dual-branded hotel in downtown Dallas in October of 2017.
