HONG KONG, September 28, 2006. Nine months to the day since it closed for a comprehensive US $140 million renovation, a traditional ceremony has taken place to mark the reopening of the legendary Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong.

Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group Chief Executive, Edouard Ettedgui, the hotel's General Manager, Peter French, Hong Kong socialite Christina Lee -- who officiated at the hotel's original opening -- and world-renowned actress and Mandarin Oriental fan Maggie Cheung, cut the ribbon to declare the property officially open.

"The date was selected on the advice of our Feng Shui master, as an auspicious time to begin this historic reopening," said the hotel's General Manager, Peter French. "Room by room and floor by floor, every last detail has been put into place in order to ensure its legendary status. Each of our 700 colleagues is looking forward to welcoming our guests back."
