Palms Las Vegas Partners with PSAV

Internet access, wired and wireless client/guest networks and business center solutions for the destination resort

LONG BEACH, CA, February 11, 2008. The Palms Casino Resort, heralded as one of Las Vegas' hippest destination venues, has recently named PSAV® Presentation Services its sole audiovisual and event technology partner.

Support will come by way of providing high-speed client-network services throughout the property’s more than 60,000 square feet of meeting and convention space, and audiovisual / event technology services for corporate, social and association events. The company also is in the process of transitioning the Palms’ business center to a PSAV event-technology center – a new concept that blends private meeting rooms, high-tech workstations and a technology concierge with soft seating in a more public setting, such as an Internet café. In addition, resort-wide shipping and receiving will be orchestrated by PSAV.

As the leading supplier of audiovisual and event technology to hotels, associations, producers and meeting planners, PSAV provides presentation services and support to more than 800 luxury hotels, resorts and conference centers worldwide.

“The Palms Casino Resort boasts one-of-a-kind amenities and facilities unique to meeting planners worldwide,” said Richard Pabst, PSAV Regional Vice President for the Las Vegas market. “No matter where you turn, the atmosphere is one of fantasy – and fantasy is something that PSAV knows a lot about. As experts in client-network services (high-speed Internet access), high-definition production, and an array of sophisticated event technologies, we can make any space, large or small, come to life.

“We are delighted to have been selected as the event technology partner for The Palms, as we consider it to be one of the pre-eminent casino resorts in Las Vegas,” he added. “PSAV is committed to making every event an unforgettable experience – and at The Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, the sky is the limit. We look forward to our new relationship and mixing creativity with the right technology to guarantee an exciting, stress-free and effective experience for visitors around the world.”

Bill Kairis, The Palms director of sales who has been instrumental in coordinating the network and equipment installation, said the company’s ability to serve as a true one-stop-shop on-site technology provider and its commitment to customer service are two of the main reasons The Palms decided to partner with PSAV.

“We were very impressed with PSAV,” Kairis said. “The company’s commitment to customer service really opened our eyes.”

When meeting planners or celebrities visit The Palms, they expect to host one-of-a-kind events that can only be experienced in Las Vegas. That typically involves an array of behind-the-scenes technologies networked and converged together to make the event truly unforgettable experience. No company is more skilled at making this happen than PSAV.

Kairis said that PSAV’s on-site experts ensure that technology support is seamless throughout an event planners’ stay. PSAV recently completed a complex $100,000-plus rigging system in the new Fantasy Tower ballroom, and is utilizing new line-array sound systems, 12K high-output projectors for ballroom functions, and Bose tower speakers in select guest suite functions.

“Network services provide the backbone for all communications applications, whether it takes place in meeting rooms, lobby or poolside,” PSAV’s Pabst said. “There is no event too large for our nationwide network of resources to handle. We are proud to support The Palms in creating and delivering a truly one-of-a-kind Las Vegas experience.”

Spa Economics & Metrics: Do you really know how your spa is doing?

By Judith L. Singer, Ed.D., ISHC, President & Co-Owner, Health Fitness Dynamics, Inc. (HFD)

While the supply of spas has been on a steady rise for many years, the growth has slowed and this is probably good because there are some challenges that need to be addressed... The supply has out-paced the demand, the labor pool from management to service providers is quite limited, and there isn’t enough reliable economic information. These may be “symptoms” that need further examination in order to address any “health” issues that could impinge on the well-being of our industry...

By Roberta Nedry, President, Hospitality Excellence, Inc.

How many times does the guest feel like they are the one waiting versus the wait staff waiting on them? What are the timing issues that make or break a service encounter? How does timing impact the overall guest experience as a service factor? Consider making time to analyze ‘time’ with employees who have “time” with guests. The ‘weight’ of the wait in the world of service delivery should not be underweight or overweight...
