MAY 13, 2008. Accor North America, one of the nation’s largest owners and operators of economy lodging, announces the acquisition of two new corporate-owned Motel 6 properties. In accordance with the company’s ongoing strategy to secure its place as the leader in the economy lodging sector, the following locations are now open:

After eight years without any corporate acquisitions, Accor NA is aggressively pursuing both corporate acquisitions and franchise opportunities toward a goal of reaching 1200 properties by 2010. Accor NA has opened three corporate-owned properties and seven franchised locations since the start of 2008. Of these 10 new properties, one is Studio 6 and nine are Motel 6.

Accor NA, the largest owner/operator in the economy segment, owns approximately 75 percent of its more than 950 locations in the U.S. and Canada. The company plans to double its number of franchise properties within the next three years. This year, Accor NA hopes to open between 50-60 properties with a focus on developing Studio 6 properties.

In 2007, Accor NA opened 37 Motel 6 and Studio 6 locations, including 17 new franchise locations during the fourth quarter.
