Rani Resorts To Open Medjumbe Island Resort In Mozambique In November

. October 14, 2008

MOZAMBIQUE, sEPTEMBER 15, 2005. Great news is that the long-awaited opening of Rani Resorts' latest project in Northern Mozambique's Quirimbas is tentatively scheduled for early November 2005. Medjumbe Island Resort will be an intimate island resort catering for discerning island leisure seekers as well as dedicated scuba diving and angling enthusiasts.

The magnificent Quirimbas Archipelago is a captivating chain of 27 islands just waiting to be discovered - offering a fascinating mix of culture and history with Arabian, Portuguese, and African influences. Not to mention some of the world's best beaches and richest coral reefs! To a large extent, these idyllic islands have only ever been known to their local inhabitants - and the many sea turtles, dolphins, sharks and whales who live on or around the islands.

One of these islands is Medjumbe - a small, mystical island, only one kilometre in length and 500 metres in width, featuring a number of small bays and coves, complete with white beaches surrounded by the turquoise waters of the warm Indian Ocean.

Medjumbe Island Resort will be the ideal island getaway for those who wish to experience exclusivity and privacy on a remote island. Accommodation is in 12 luxury air-conditioned chalets, situated in secluded spots on higher ground between 10 - 20 metres from the beach. All chalets have a bath, shower and external shower and are equipped with all the amenities one expects from a luxury world-class resort. Guests can also enjoy the restaurant with inside and outside decks with verandah, a lounge, bar, a swimming pool and an activities centre.

Medjumbe is located in a marine reserve where the diving wall is less than 1 kilometre off-shore and extends up to 7 km. Game fish; including marlin, sailfish, dogtooth tuna, mackerel, various species of kingfish and bonefish, abound. Visitors can take pleasure in romantic island walks and bird watching - or just stroll along the pure white shores and marvel at the azure waters and stunning sunsets.

Medjumbe Island Resort will be the second Rani Resort to open in the Quirimbas, following the very successful launch of Matemo Island Resort in December 2004. Other Rani Resorts in Mozambique include the Pemba Beach Hotel on the mainland and Indigo Bay Island Resort on Bazaruto Island.

Guests access Medjumbe via a flight into Pemba and then transfer to a light aircraft for a 30-minute scenic flight to Matemo Island followed by a 90-minute boat trip, depending on sea conditions, or a 15-minute light aircraft transfer, to Medjumbe.
