. October 14, 2008

JUNE 27, 2007. Banyan Tree Private Collection, Asia's first asset-backed destination club to offer perpetual and transferable membership, has made its official foray into the buoyant mainland China market with a successful launch in the giant economy's business capital, Shanghai.

The event, held at the upscale 18 On The Bund, saw a turnout of about 150 guests from Shanghai's business community and society. With China's growing affluence, Banyan Tree Private Collection sees the country as taking on a significant market share in its success in Asia, which currently accounts for 40 percent of its membership.

Making up half of its current membership, Europe is another important region for Banyan Tree Private Collection. The Asian pioneer in destination clubs will launch next on 5 July 2007 in London.

These launches follow two high profile events late last year introducing Banyan Tree Private Collection to discerning consumers in Seoul and Hong Kong.

Club Expansion

Both Shanghai and London are regarded as prime gateway cities to reach Banyan Tree Private Collection's targeted clientele of affluent consumers looking for a product that offers the twin benefits of a luxurious lifestyle and value-for-money. With a trusted brand and unique product, Banyan Tree Private Collection is geared to provide its international clientele with a growing choice of holidays at exotic global locations.

Group Director of Banyan Tree Private Collection, Mr. Rannie Tan, predicts a major trend for destination clubs in the near future. He says, "As more affluent travelers explore the world at a leisurely pace, Banyan Tree Private Collection can only go from strength to strength because destination clubs will be the most ideal way to fulfil this need. Furthermore, destination club membership provides members with the flexibility to enjoy the privilege of staying in luxurious villas without the cost and hassle of owning a vacation home."

Banyan Tree Private Collection offers perpetual and transferable membership and boasts one of the most attractive annual fees in the destination club industry. Its members currently enjoy a selection of Banyan Tree resorts located in Phuket, Thailand, Seychelles, Bintan, Indonesia as well as Ringha and Lijiang in China.

Four-bedroom villas in non-Banyan Tree resort locations have also been acquired in Tuscany, Italy and Provence, France. Furthermore, Banyan Tree Private Collection also includes a two-bedroom serviced residence in London, United Kingdom.

As part of the Collection's fast-growing portfolio, the purchase of a luxury apartment in Kyoto, Japan, is in the pipeline, with exciting urban destinations such as Paris, Moscow, New York, San Francisco and Barcelona to come.
